That is the information from the Link provided by Jhhnn. You know the one you said he stole your thunder.

I'm just quoting you guys own link. And yes they are still doing partial birth abortions.

Selective comprehension FTL! First sentence, second paragraph in the Guttmacher link-

In its April 2007 decision in Gonzales v. Carhart, the Supreme Court upheld the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 and, in the process, set a major jurisprudential precedent.

But, according to you, partial birth abortions are still performed legally in this country.

Pray tell- how did you come to that conclusion?

I suspect that many pro-life supporters would be terrified to be a nursing, doctoral, or medical research program. My spouse is a RN, and we were together through her education. She came home daily talking about the distasteful things that she had to do - both as part of her education and internship. From plastic surgery to bowel reconstruction, cyst removal to lumpectomies there is very little that is 'tasteful'.

The people who provide us with those services, by necessity, have to be able to turn off that portion of themselves that find it distasteful. 'Normal' people just don't understand that. It's why people can have conversations about fetal tissue over lunch: it's what they do every day and they have to be able to have the conversations.

So folks get it up in arms about how horrible it sounds without realizing that it's a perfectly normal conversation. You go talk about how your boss is sleeping with his secretary, and they go talk about collagen removal, scarring, and the difficulties they had with their bone saw while cutting into someone.

*shrug*. The republicans are continuing to alienate ever-growing sections of the population, and as the current crop of kids (who are substantially less religious than the last) grow into voting age, I will hold out hope that rational thinking will finally win out over this type of intolerance.
Dude, regardless of whether one agrees with defunding Planned Parenthood, parting out babies for dollars is a rather different kind of distasteful than removing a cyst.

Then how is it possible that laws banning women from selling, renting or leasing their bodies, something they own as the most fundamental right, are constitutional?

Not that I disagree with anything you said, just asking.
Because we're a Christian nation that has not yet lived up to our stated principles - although in fairness, no Western democracy has completely passed that bar, because personal freedom can have bad effects.

That is actually a good thing... If Congress would all just go home and relax we are much better off. Bad things dont happen when congress does nothing, they happen when congress DOES something. When they do nothing its much better for us all.
This, in spades. People complaining about Obama's vacations should be complaining about Obama not taking Congress with him. No one's life, liberty or property is safe when Congress is in session.

Beating heart, moving legs, and outside the womb. They still want to call babies just a clump of cells.

Chumped again! That's stock video footage from God knows where added for dramatic effect- for the chumps like you.

The rest is the usual authoritative sounding accusations from anonymous sources, standard right wing bullshit.

"I worked at PP and..."

Anybody can say that shit & will obviously be believed by those who want to believe it.

That's you, obviously.

If you can read, You'll find out that tissue is donated *by the patient* at 1% of PP facilities & that they're obviously not making a profit at $30-$100 for getting it to researchers.

The whole thing is an excellent example of the Bullshit Asymmetry Principle in operation.

If the Supreme Court says Citizen's United is OK and owning a hundred guns is OK and Obamacare is OK and abortions are OK and same sex marriage is OK then so be it.

So what's the problem again?

Why are republicans against Abortion. More abortions = less welfare, food stamps and other government aid.

I'm just guessing but I think it has something to do with a segment of their party wishing to impose their religious beliefs on the rest of the nation that, unfortunately for them, violates the tenets of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I'll chuck in this Christopher Hitchens quote, for good measure.

“...the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction.”

Contraception and all that crap can be obtained else where. I don't want my tax money going towards this butcher shop. What if you were forced to pay tax dollars for bullets for a company called 2nd Liberty that handed out free guns?

Well we kind of are, just not here in the US. We even arm and train people who then use the same arms and training to shoot at our own soldiers.

Ahh, so it's Christ's fault that women don't own their own bodies?

Hell, Christ is fine with slavery, so that's a given.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. - Ephesians 6:5 NLT

What don't you get? They are idiots. You are expecting them to act rationally?

well..more then they have been yes. I really don't get it. shutting down the government is damned expensive and a major pain for the rest of the US. to shut it down over the PP? just not worth it

I am usually middle of the road. NOT gop or dem. both have good and bad things.

This? fuck the gop. it's insane

Well, I have to say that IMO, it's only a small minority of Repubs that want to go that route, but because they somehow were able to define themselves as the quintessential epitome and role model of what a TRUE conservative is, they have been secure in the notion that no other lesser Republican would dare question their pedigree lest they be branded as traitors and charlatans and humiliatingly tossed out of the party on a rail.

That's some strong incentive that keeps the "weak" ones in their place while allowing the "strong" ones to dictate terms, no matter how it hurts the Party proper.

I really think it's the sluts must be punished mentality that motivates most of them.

They will tell anyone who will listen that their constituents sent them to Washington to fight. Not to govern, to fight. If you send your kid to school to fight, and not to learn, he'll find a way to get into a fight. Same thing with Republicans. If it wasn't PP, they'd be shutting down the government over something else. It's the confrontation that gets them elected.

The more suffering there is among sinners the easier it is to preach against sin. Therefore, create as much suffering as possible for them.

Abstinence only sex-ed serves the same purpose as does our outrageous incarceration rate.
