Looks like need-based healthcare, not greed-based healthcare, is the Christian way.

OMG! Communism! D:

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Acts 2:42-47

Edit: Darn! This was meant for P&N. :(

we already knew that Jesus was a communist.

At least, so the Bible tells us.

If Jesus had a "targets" list for when he returned Christian Mega Churches would be way up on the list.

Christianity as a religion has never truly been about following the teachings of Christ. Not really.

And when everything in the bible may or may not be open to non-literal interpretation, anything can mean anything. :D

ftfy.

If you just read the parts of the New Testament where Jesus speaks, it usually sounds alright, the problem arises when men figure out what that meant.

Jesus was alright, Christians are nigh unbearable.

That's not Communism. Communists have to take from someone before they can give to someone else.

Actually, they did form a commune, that practiced communism. It may niot have been state communism, but it was still communism.

Communism works, as long as you can find a community you want to join and support, forcing people to join one won't work, because, well, people are stubborn and hate joining things they have to join.

What the primitive Christian church supposedly practiced was the ideal form of communism. Everyone opted in and could leave if they chose. If you tried to "opt out" of most communist governments you'd find yourself "opting in" to a trip to a very unpleasant place.

The kingdom of heaven is within you and is found when the soul loses all fear. When you are surrounded by folk who have gone to heaven there's nothing you need fear. People in heaven are very charitable. All the people in heaven are friends.

Fun fact: every single leper Jesus healed in the Bible had valid healthcare insurance. Why do you think he had 12 Jewish apostles? The paperwork was a nightmare.

lol

As an aside, all the apostles had serious personality flaws, why are they held as the truth and light over Jesus?

How are they held as the truth and light? Never heard of that one. Even Jesus seemed to get irritated with them on more than one occassion...

They are held as the truth and the light because they quote Jesus a few times and fill in the blanks. They all had an incomplete understanding of what Jesus preached, and yet, the Bible is full of their testimony, taken as fact and scripture. Hell, some apostles where completely disregarded, even though the Son of God chose them, what more do you need?

Christianity is the ultimate human exercise, taking a grain of truth and building a pyramid of power.

Read....slower.

The number of apostles actually regarded in the New Testament is pretty lame. It's sad that most Christians believe what the Romans told them to, after the Romans nailed their savior to a cross.

Romans didn't pass on the tradition that most follow today. Read slower.

that's b/c Saul/Paul became the arbiter of what the Church would become.

This was a man that never met Jesus while he was alive. I really don't understand why the so-called disciples would let such an outsider hamstring the teachings of their so-called Abba in such a way.

The more I think about it, it really puts into the question the legitimacy of the disciples themselves--their actual roles in this, much less their existence...

:hmm:

Okay...

The catholics are still the largest denomination. Most other sects use their bible, do you have any real arguments, or just blah-blah?
