They made Starcraft too difficult. I was pro-level at Warcraft 3 and could barely scratch Masters in Starcraft 2... The reason is the game moves so quickly and 90% of your time is spent either managing your base or scouting. In Warfcraft 3 you could spend 75% of a game in actual combat.

It's too difficult for the average player to control 3 bases and an army or two while scouting an opponent. So people play LoL instead where they have 1 character model to manage with 4-5 commands.

Starcraft 2 isn't a bad game, but it's not really friendly to most players.

Gaming communities don't toss around the word 'pro' lightly here. Pro means you're at least top 0.001% and playing in prize tournaments. Also you also have a following in twitch/youtube.

If you were a 'pro' in Warcraft 3, I would know, what's your handle?

Also if you were a pro in WC3, there's no way you'd fall so hard in SC2. Most pros of WC3 were pros from SC1. And some pros from SC2 are from WC3.

I agree with you and i'm in a minority that i feel Warcraft 3 was the perfect RTS. a good mix of economy, combat and micromanagement. The concept of hero units was the best. SC2 is way too complex for anyone who doesn't spend hours playing it every day. it's still pretty enjoyable though.
