LG L227WTG 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor for $219.99 at Buy.com

Also take another $10 off with this coupon at Buy.com for a total of $209.99

I purchased this monitor this morning (8/5) for a total price of $209.99. Yes I know it is Refurbished but I think it's a really good deal in my opinion so I decided to post it here to see if anyone else is interested or has any thoughts about the monitor. I purchased a Refurbished 32" Vizio HDTV a couple of months ago from Buy.com and I couldn't tell the difference between that and a new one and I have had no problems with it ever since I got it.

Hm I would suggest looking in your sunday paper ads if you want a good display, there are getting to be a lot of 1680x1050 22" for under $200. CC IIRC has one this week for $180, not refurbed. Hope that is helpful.

Damn, I just bought this monitor last week for $299 from Fry's. Its the best looking and clearest picture I have seen out of an LCD that I have owned.

Soccerballtux, all that I have seen around that price aren't good gaming monitors. And for this price, this blows them out of the water.

the reviews I found online about the monitor have so far been all positive....I wanted a cheap monitor that wasn't junk and I think I found a decent one. Of course we will see when it gets here...

I just picked one up from Best Buy the other day, and I agree that this has the nicest picture of any 22" LCD I've seen. They advertise it with an 8000:1 contrast ratio (most LCDs advertise < 1000), and while those aren't always the most reliable numbers to go by, I really am impressed by this one.

Edit: Woop, the Best Buy model is W2241T, so its not exactly the same. On the other hand, its brand new vs. the buy.com refurb. Link

I have had mine for almost a month now and I really like it. Best monitor I have owned thus far. I have like one more week before my 30 day price garentee from BB goes out... So I am hoping to God that their next ad has it for sale. I paid $339.99. I don't think I would personally purchase a refurb, but if you happen to get one without a dead pixel, these displays are top notch. I love mine.

I just now saw these and came here to ask about the same thing, haha! From searching the LCD thread, it seems refurbished monitors (like all products, I would imagine) are a toss-up. Is there any way to find out from the store exactly WHY it was refurbished? Is it too hopeful to think some huge company bought 300 of these things and then realized it was the wrong model or something and sent them back? ROFL

It's very temping to save money on this, as the monitor I'm on right now is on it's last legs, so this deal has come along at a pretty opportune time.

EDIT: Just took the plunge, will post trip report. It won't be here until Monday at the earliest, though.

Yeah hopefully these work out for us who buy them. Like I said in the first post, i purchased a refurbished 32" Vizio HDTV from buy.com and I could not notice the difference at all between new and refurbished and the tv has given me no problems at all so far. So hopefully the monitor is the same way...I'll find out when it gets here i guess!

I couldn't see anything about a warranty. The closest I saw was "reconditioned products carry a similar warranty as new".

Refurbished products have shafted warranty. LCD tend to break more often than CRT.

Whoa, 0ms image lag is astounding. I think mine is probably 16ms or so :(

FYI, I contacted LG Electronics Warranty, Refurbs/factory reconditioned carry either a 30 or 90 warranty depending on the make and reseller. NOT 3yrd under any circumstances.

That's manufacturer not reseller's warranty.

You can find a lot of stuff with a better warranty through the reseller.

Both are only as good as those offering them though.

postin from new monitor...

no dead pixels, didnt come with a dvi cable tho (was it supposed to? idk w/e)

input lag...as far as i can tell none. i am pretty sensitive to input lag i can usually tell when theres ~1 frame (16~17ms) of lag, and it seems to be minimal/none.

color was a bit off, still kinda in the middle of adjusting it but it looks pretty good.

i got mine today too but I haven't had a chance to hook it up yet and probably won't until tuesday at the earliest. (going to the nascar race at Michigan International Speedway and camping out there) you should see me if you watch the race this Sunday...As the cars fly by the grand stands I am that little blurry dot standing and cheering!

Personally I wouldn't go with anything else, because all I really care about is minimizing input lag.

So need to purchase a separate DVI cable? I'm close to pulling the trigger on this as I want to move away from CRT and want a gaming + movie monitor. Seems alright for movies... hmm...

EDIT: Okay, ordered it. Had to add faster shipping because I'm moving in 9 days or so. Let me know if I need to get a DVI cable to others that ordered it. I know DandyJ said he needed to get one.

Also anyone willing to help me with calibrating once I receive it? :( Or any tips/guides anywhere?
