ROTFLMAO!

PAPER documents? I can imagine the orders coming from Bertha Lewis -

"Take every piece of paper you have and throw it in the trash - RIGHT NOW!"

"OK, boss!"

"Manny, throw everything out."

"Everyone?"

"EVERYTHING!!!" (channeling Gary Oldman in "Léon, The Professional")

Didn't do any good in the movie, ain't gonna do any good for ACORN either.

Wonder how long it will take for all the stolen identity claims attributed to ACORN . They dumped everything from drivers license photo copies and social security card scans to voter registration info. Gold mine for identity theft.

I guess this is why the fed seized the offices in New Orleans last month before they let them know of an official inquiry. They had word the employees were destroying things there too.

Clearly, they are an important part of the political process and can be entrusted with lots of federal dollars to spend on fair and unbiased "getting out the vote" initiatives.

I may buy the contention that acorn has a few rouge employees, but not the contention that acorn is any worse or better than the average voter registration organization.

In fact I never even heard of acorn before the GOP made such a big deal out of them

Meanwhile 404 linkage to democrats not found.

And just another example of the GOP making a mountain out of a molehill of a talking point. While preaching to only their own choir.

While quite a bit of our discussion on ACORN deals with their institutional support for child prostitution and racketeering, the harm Acorn does by indulging in elections fraud is going to result in quite a few "community organizers" receiving criminal convictions.

The following story is about ACORN sotto capo (under boss) Christopher Edwards. He got probation for agreeing to testify against capofamiglia (regional boss) Amy Busefink.

Rumors have it that little Amy is not going to go down without taking down the capo di tutti capi (boss of bosses) with her and is now negotiating her own deal.

Ex-ACORN official gets probation for voter registration plan

By Cara McCoy
Las Vegas Sun
Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 | 10:01 a.m.

A former field director for the political advocacy organization ACORN was sentenced today in district court to up to three years of probation.

Christopher Edwards, who in August pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime of compensation for registration of voters, a gross misdemeanor, received a suspended jail sentence and a $500 fine. He has agreed to testify against ACORN and one of its former regional directors, Amy Busefink.

The Nevada attorney general’s office has accused ACORN and Busefink of operating an illegal bonus system. Tying money to or setting quotas for collecting voter registration cards is illegal under Nevada law.

“I take responsibility for what I did,” Edwards told the court. “I’m sorry, I truly am.”

Busefink and ACORN pleaded not guilty on Oct. 27. A trial date is set for April 19.

If convicted, Busefink likely would face probation or less than one year in jail. ACORN could see a $5,000 fine.

The attorney general’s office said Edwards organized and operated a quota system called “blackjack” or “21+” through which the group paid canvassers based on the number of voter registration cards they collected each day. The canvassers were to gather at least 20 completed cards daily and anyone who turned in 21 or more would be given an extra $5.

Busefink, as a manager, is said to have approved the “blackjack” program. But ACORN officials have said Edwards acted alone in developing and carrying it out.

In handing down his sentence, Judge Donald Mosley said he wasn’t pleased with the negotiations but cited Edwards’ agreement to testify in giving him probation. Edwards is also required to complete community service.

Nevada Chief Deputy Attorney General Conrad Hafen is the lead prosecutor in the case. He wasn’t present in court today; David Rickert, a prosecutor in the attorney general’s office, declined comment after the hearing. Edwards and his attorney, Dan Silverstein, declined to speak with the media.

An election task force last year began to investigate ACORN over questionable voter registration tactics. The charges against Edwards, ACORN and Busefink stemmed from information obtained during that investigation.

Is it even possible for an ACORN employee to go to jail? Every time I've seen one prosecuted they've been allowed to cop a lesser plea and receive probation. Even the founder's brother, who embezzled a cool couple million, never got prosecuted. Seems our whole country is turning into New Jersey . . .

Besides, if ACORN is squashed (and it certainly should be) then the same people will turn up and get the same money as SEIU or some other alphabet organization. I give us maybe a decade before we have proxy voting and public election financing, and then we've had it as any kind of representative democracy.

An interesting audio of an interview with the PI that grabbed the papers if you go the website -

http://biggovernment.com/2009/11/23/acorn-scandal-part-2-the-evidentiary-phase/

Introductory commentary -

ACORN Scandal, Part 2: The Evidentiary Phase
by Andrew Breitbart
BigGovernment.com

The last two months of the growing ACORN scandal have focused on the damning videos shot by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles.

In seven out of eight offices, ACORN employees attempted to aid and abet O’Keefe and Giles’ illicit “scheme” to establish a brothel for underage illegal-immigrant prostitutes from Central America. .

That phase has been tabled for a future date, as I forthrightly stated last Thursday evening to Attorney General Eric Holder on FOX NEWS’ Hannity show.

The next phase will be the evidentiary phase. Starting with, but not limited to an extraordinary document dump at the San Diego office that was one of the offices O’Keefe and Giles exposed, causing the firing of a single employee.

On October 1, California Attorney General Jerry Brown, who once again aspires to be the state’s governor, announced that he was investigating not just ACORN in California, but also the truth tellers who exposed the alleged corruption and illegality.

Last night, I hosted a three-hour show on KFI 640 AM, the largest radio station in the country, and use the opportunity to announce the existence of 20,000 deeply sensitive and highly political documents discovered in the dumpster behind ACORN in San Diego on October 9, nine days after ACORN was announced to be under state investigation.

Some might call that “obstruction of justice.”

Listen to the entire interview with the private investigator who filled his Suburban with the documents in the following audio. It is explosive radio that hopefully shows the proper authorities that ACORN is making a mockery of this country’s laws and judicial process.

We are a nation of laws. The Attorney General of California and the attorney general of the United States have made a solemn oath to uphold these laws. Attorney General Holder and Attorney General Brown are arguably the two most powerful law enforcement officers in the country.

We are willing to facilitate copies being sent of all the documents recovered from the public dumpster outside the ACORN office and forward these to Attorneys General Brown and Holder. There are reasons ACORN dumped these documents before the scheduled visit by Brown’s office. The question millions want to know, now that ACORN has again brazenly mocked our nation’s laws: Will Holder and Brown do their jobs?

And even if some acorn employees go to jail, it may be regarded by some republicans as a huge victory, while independents and democrats yawn. They too remember Kenny boy Lay, Abrimoff, GWB&co, and Bernie Madoff who did far worse damage to our economic and political system.

In short, in the grand scheme of things, acorn is a small potato with no legs. And as the GOP hyperspasticially attempt to inflate a balloon, all they will get is out of breath.

Sarah Palin seems to be a small potato in the grand scheme of things too, but that doesn't stop more threads about her than healthcare, the debt, and the wars combined.

I believe you are grossly over-estimating the average American's political intelligence and memory.

GOP made a big deal of them because they were worse than the average voter registration org. And the constant stream of evidence over the last few months should be proof enough. That is unless you know something we don't.

Interesting reading these days from ACORN. BigGovernment.com is staying hard on the story and as they examine the dumped documents they are releasing notable examples. You can get updates here -
