Looks like a pen went through the washer...

Lifer
Of course this happens on the load that has my new, super comfy pants (not Diesel).

So the question is, how do I get the ink out? I didn't catch it before they went through the dryer.

Good luck, I had to throw the clothes out. This was a mistake I only had to make one time....

It helps to run through pockets before you throw clothes in the washer. Pretty sure you have to take it to the dry cleaners and see if they can help you.

Aren't you on a roll today. If had a vacation button I would be granting you time away.

you don't

I appreciate the honesty and all...but how about giving me a sliver of hope?

/throws a funeral for his new, super comfy pants

Hairspray MIGHT work to remove the ink stains, but my experience with that is poor.

Goof-Off has worked much better for me.

(in the past 20 or so years, I do ALL the laundry in our household when I'm in town/not working a bazillion hours)

I AM the Laundry Bitch in my household, and have her permission to say so.

You might as well dye them a different color or ignore the ink spots

It is not inconceivable that, through nano-technology, a cleaner will be invented in the next 20-years that will remove an ink stain from a shirt that has been put through the dryer.

This is what Google told me: http://housekeeping.about.com/...emoval/a/inkstains.htm

I had ink (from a toner cartridge) get on a pair of jeans before. I used my father-in-laws grease remover (I think) that he used on his clothes from working in a factory. Most of the ink came out but not all of it, and it faded the color a little. I did use the grease remover before washing it, so it might not work for you.

Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
No guarantee it will remove the ink AFTER it's been through the dryer though. That often sets the stain almost permanently.
You MAY have a new comfy pair of yard-work pants...

Grease remover runs the gamut of chemicals. Same with ink though...some inks come out pretty easy...some are nearly permanent.

OP how much coverage are you talking?

If it's isolated you may be in luck...if it's all over it's going to take probably more time than the pants are worth.

I'd try 93% or higher isopropyl alcohol first, then acetone...you are going to need something more absorbent than the pants to blot with (don't scrub).
