I ordered this Thursday and it arrived yesterday (Monday, < $6 shipping). I'm close to ecstatic about this camera. It has and does more than other 3 MP cameras costing $100-200 more, not counting the rebate. It will use just about any battery you can cram into it. It'll take unlimited (up to filling your SD or MMC card) length 320x240 videos with sound. The pictures are at least as good as any other 3MP camera I've seen, and better than most. I don't think it's a real old model; it's still featured on the Samsung Camera site. The V4 was introduced in January and the system date on my V3 was set at June 5th of this year (and it's definitely not refurbished or used). I could go on (3x optical zoom, nice size and heft, excellent printed manual, etc.), 
, but I want to go order another one for a Christmas gift.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with a "luxurious case" as claimed; it's faux-leather and not fur-lined. It is nicely tailored to the unit.
Check this one out and compare it to other 3 MP cameras. If you want 4 MP, the rebate is good also for the V4.

Dang, I'd have to pay sales tax. I have ordered from Onecall twice before. They even called me after I received my camcorder to make sure it arrived in one piece and to see if I had any questions. Top rate outfit!!

You say you can take videos with this. I'm very curious and please inform me:
1. I have been intending to buy a digital video camera. Would this work as a DVC? I'm told, for my purpose, it would be good to have a real fast shutter speed, I think 1/2000 second. I'd only really need a capacity to take, say, 15 minutes of video, maybe as little as 5 minutes. If this digital camera is not suitable could someone recommend one that is?
2. And conversely, if this is not suitable for that (or another digital camera), is it possible to use a digital video camera as a digital still camera? i.e. save digital pictures to my computer's HD?

1. Digital still cameras do not take good video. They will shoot short (ie 10-20 seconds), small, grainy clips, but if you're interested in video, you definitely want a digital video camera.
2. It is possible to use a digital video camera as a digital still camera. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Many of the low to mid range video cameras only take 640x480 resolution (0.3 megapixel) stills. You would need to get one of the newer, higher-end cameras that contain a 1.3 megapixel ccd to get any kind of decent quality. Also, you need some kind of storage device (besides the digital tape for video) to store the photos on, usually the camera will have a compact flash, SD or memory stick slot for this purpose.
When all is said and done, it's usually worth having both a digital still camera and a digital video camera if you're interested in doing both. Neither does the other's job very well.
Well said. I carry both to my kids sporting events that I don't coach. A nicer digital camcorder will take some ok indoor stills with a flash up close, but that's about it. Outside or far away and the quality stinks.

My V3 arrived this morning from onecall.com and I could not be happier. The V3 is an awesome camera reagrdless of the price and even better at $159 (with extra 3 year Samusng warranty) after the rebate. I bought the 3 year Samsung factory warranty for only $9.99. The 3 year warranty takes effect after the original 1 year warranty expires for a total of 4 years of warranty coverage. Onecall.com is great, shipping is reasonable, recieved a FED EX tracking report via email and they give you an extra 1% discount when you order on-line.
The V3's menus and controls are really straight forward and easy once you get using them. The advanced features worked as advertised, the manual focus worked well in some low light situations and full zoom shots and the "easy" mode is just that, easy. I really liked the fact that the digital zoom automatically activates when you hit the end of the optical zoom. The digitial zoom increases or decreases in .5 increments. The quality of the pictures so far seem great, including some test photos using the full 12 x zoom. Compared to my old Canon A50, this Samsung is everyhting the A50 was not. The Canon A50 ate 2CR5 batteries at $10 plus a pop. That is partly why I opted for the Samusng with it's 9 battery choices, which include non-proprietary AA's and the CRV3 off the shelf. I also really liked the camera shutter button selectable sounds that you can choose from when you take a picture including an SLR shutter release sound. The A50 never made a sound when I took a picture and many times I didn't know if the picture was actually taken. The belt case and the 32mb San Disk SD card that comes with the V3 is icing on the cake.
I also found a great deal on 128 SD cards at Walmart last night. They have a shipper display box in the aisle by the Camera section of Impact by Lexar Media 128 SD cards for $23.33 straight sale, no rebates. Check it out, they may be for this weeks Black Friday sale, but they put them out.

This is a great deal but I am confused as to the $5 shipping that someone claims to have received and that someone else was able to extend the warranty by 3 additional years for $9.99. Once I can find out about those two things I am sold, great camera, even without the rebate!!!

Hey guys, yeah I was watchin it for the past couple hours, debating. It went OOS, and then I ordered it on back order about two hours ago. I guess after a few of those they decided to raise the price back up. But don't worry, I'm sure they will lower it again when they get more in stock, so keep checkin! By the way, did some research on the camera, it does look pretty sweet (and small).

Also there aren't a lot of reviews, but most said good things about them, especially the features it has for such low price. Something I don't like about this camera is the plastic body. Also the 9 power source is overrated, they included basically all kinds of non rechargable battery, most of which you probably not going to use anyways.
