straight distilled is what i use as well.

it will give you the best performance and by nature is non conductive. Unless your components are dity.

Some people will use mixes, and coolants. This prolongs maintence, but if its your first loop, you'll probably want it for bling.

WB those work, i like pentosion. Try to stay away from hydrx, it leaves a nasty gelly gunk in your system.


As for radiators, my favorate is the MCR series, unless you wanna step up to the PA series which is like the rolls royce of radiators.

The best is the massive Blackice 480GTX. 😛

the black ice pro is a good radiator.

the stealth is very restrictive and should only be used when you need to fit it in a very tight spot. Its the thinnest out of all the rads thats why.

If your going colored tubing get straight distilled. Remember you need to flush every 3-6 months tho, to keep the coolant fresh.

I don't have a res yet and I might go with a t-line. But I've held really close to my budget. Didn't expect the pump to be so much. That's the last thing I want to skimp on though.

I also have thermal paste and zip ties at the house. Is there anything I'm missing or any parts that need changing before I order?

I still say look in the FS/FT sections here and other forums. You can get many of your parts as much as 50% less and in great condition to boot. That may help you get slightly better hardware and come in under budget.
 
I will be getting the vario pump. I've looked on the FS/FT threads and found a few parts. I was wondering if anyone has watercooled a pentium D? I have a 830 laying around and wanted to see what I could get out of it. I got it to 3.8GHz stable under air when I got it. Sat at 70c load so I thought I'd see what I could get out of the little heaterbox with some watercooling. I kept it below my desk and the exhaust fan would keep my feet warm in the winter!

assuming you hold ambients the same.

expect somewhere between 10-15C lower temps on load. And about 2-3C lower on idle.

But idle doesnt mean crap besides bad mount.

I put my 540J in my loop but I never really tried to push it. Temps were very good though.
 
The cpu will shut it down, no problems. Chances are good you won't be there or notice if you are if you run 24/7. I've come home from work, taken off my wet socks and hit the power button to browse the web,,,,:roll:

I run 24/7 why would I need to turn it on?

the 655 has a 4 pin molex for power and a 3 pin with the tach lead for sensing rpm.
