with a 6600GT you can run it at 1024x768 with 4xAA and the preset High, which is the highest of all the presets. Although you can bump up the Image quality more, I haven't checked it out to see if it's worth it. The higher texture setting didn't seem to do much of anything. Anyway, utilizing these settings, you will get acceptable framerates. There will be some frameblur which looks like framerates are hanging around the 30's and maybe a bit lower and places where it gets unacceptable sometimes, but only for a split second where it might drop to 24fps. I had Vsync on too, so if you don't mind turning it off, it might help towards those issues.

128MB of VRAM seems to be fine for it, but if you want higher image quality using AA and AF and higher resolutions such as above 1024x768, then the RAM will certainly come in handy. But I doubt, you'll get a card like that for 200.

That 9800 pro 256MB is nice, but there is too much memory, you could get a faster card for the same price.

If you open the computer up, the powersupply should have a sticker on the side, or somewhere on it.

I agree with Pete on this.

Are you sure that the 6800s and 6600s are better cards. Im looking to play battlefield 2 but i think that game needs ram not a top end video card.

Look at the link in my post above! That is what you need! Buy it! 6800! Go, go, go! :D If you do buy a 9800 Pro, don't spend more than $130 on it! That extra memory is not that helpful! Trust us! If you want to see that memory put to use, you need to go high end, at least X800 or better. The way it is, you won't need that texture memory as the 9800Pro won't be able to draw them fast enough for good performance.

Yes, you should be fine. I don't know about the rest of your rig, but 17A on the 12volt rail is good sign. This is a big card though, so watch for interferance with HD's already in place.

That 6600GT that you found would also be a good bet if you haven't ordered that 6800 yet. If it is truly $140 rebate, that is good price for that amount of power, being only about $15 more than a 9800 Pro.

Good choice on the card. A 6800 is a kick ass card.

It is recommended that you have at least 1GB of RAM. I have that and the game runs great, but I don't know on big servers. Your system might not support any higher anyway.

How long will this card last me untill games start running pretty slow under normal conditions with high to meduim settings. How long will this card hold a good value also anybody here that plays BF2 give me a review on the demo.
