Looking to Upgrade machine

Hey guys, currently I am running this:

RAM - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9T-6GBNQ

SSD - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Graphics card - MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

HD - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Motherboard - ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD Motherboard

Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX

and it has worked out great so far for me, I just wanna make some nice upgrades, what do you think would be best bang for the buck honestly?

What doesn't the PC do that you'd like it to do? Initially, if it's a regular gaming PC, I'd say upgrade the graphics card.

I am just a general gamer, general editing. It seems to lag when multi-tasking, or just in general.

To combat lagging in general, you should make sure your drives are working optimally. Make sure they're not filled to the brim - especially the SSD. And keep your 500GB HDD defragmented. I'd also recommend cleaning the registry regularly with CCleaner.

If you want to upgrade the CPU, there's a big boost to be had.

That's about 70-80% faster stock vs stock. Add to that a +25% overclock and it'll be more than twice as fast.

Sell your current mobo+cpu+ram in a bundle.

I don't see any reason why that machine should lag when multitasking, assuming that multi-tasking in this case means "having a lot of general usage programs open at once". It's very likely that you have a software issue or have just filled up your drives like lehtv said.
