It's my mom's b-day today and we want to get her a CD player for her car. Do the walmart people do installations? How much would it probably run me for a CD player that can play data MP3's plus installation?

TIA

Walmart? ummm.....no

Try Best Buy, you can get them cheap there plus they'll do the install

They do it on the spot, depending on how many cars they have in their queue, it should only take about 30 minutes.

If you can find a smaller car audio place, buy the deck from them and they can install on the spot, no waiting. Prob take you 30 minutes at most. It's really easy to install stereos, if you know the car and where the screws are to remove the dash area.

If you go with Best Buy or Circuit City, you may have to wait later that day at best or some time in the coming week. I've found the best customer care and treatment with the smaller guys, who have the time to show you everything and can have time to chit chat with you, instead of just trying to close a sale.

Those smaller guys don't usually do a free install though. When I bought my cd player, i was lazy and it had free install, took about 30 minutes or so. It just depends on how many people are waiting for the install.

you can buy the deck and do it yourself...doesnt take that long if you know what you are doing. If is is a newer car, just but the right harness, and it plugs right in to existing wiring. May need a mount kit also....what kind of car are we talking here?

Circuit City has really bad installs. They might not cut into the car's wiring, but from what I'm told by employees they're trained to twist wires together instead of even crimping them. They twist once and put a bit of electrical tape over it.

I think I gotta go with ucdnam here, I took it to a smaller place, got a really good CD/MP3 deck, $260 for everything (deck, install, harness, taxes) and I was out of there in 45 minutes!

I'd rather pay a little bit more for good service and to get in and out of there fast...
