yes, in some cases. I suggest you to check your credit report now to see if you can your mom's credit history under yours. that happens.
you don't really share the credit with the primary holder. primary holder is the one being bills.

above 650 for a starter is pretty good, at least you have a credit score. how long is your credit history? probably have to thank your mom for that.
it will go up gradually, as long as you do it right.

I've still never looked up my actual score. For the free credit report one, it includes score, but you have to put in a credit card?
"Your credit card will not be charged during the free trial period. However, valid credit card information is required to establish your account."
Uh, is it easy to cancel my "trial period"? wtf...
When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 30-day trial period, you will be billed $12.95 for each month that you continue your membership.

I dunno, it says "The length of time your accounts have been established is relatively short." I think I've been an authorized user for 2-3 years. What do you think my odds of getting my own card with that score are?

you can cancel it in 30-day trial period. there may be hassle while trying to cancel the service, but I am sure OP will think it is worth it.

If you can I'd suggest to stay away from credit cards. They make their money screwing over young people that can't see through the smoke and mirrors. Maybe when you get older and have money the convenience is nice, but I wouldn't suggest it at such a young age.
(I'm 21, so maybe I'm wrong)

Nawh, I just got my first credit card like 8 months ago w/ USAA at the age of 22. 2 months later, got added to my wife's card. 2 months later increased limit of my USAA card to $2,000. And now, just 2 months later, I just got an Amazon Visa.
We never hold balance on anything, but I dont wanna keep applying and applying.
Right now I have 3 debit cards, and 3 credit cards. It'd suck if my wallet got stolen.
