I'm 5'6" 130lbs. I just bought some weight sets and will be working out with a buddy of mine who used to do bodybuilding. He wants me to eat a little more, but since I'm asian, my meals consist of a lot of rice. Anyways, I'm looking to buy some weight gainers and have found a product from GNC call Weight Gainer 2200 Gold.. It has over 2000 calories in a 24oz cup. That along with the meals I eat should help fight off my fast metabolism. Anyone else try any other brand?

I think thats what I instake in a day also. But I move around a lot, playing various sports and what not. Besides, my metabolism is quite fast so I have to offset it by taking in more calories.

Its cool, i've been there. Weight Gainer won't help much if you dont really work out hard. The way to gain is to work out hard, damage the muscles and let it rebuild. That's where Weight gainer comes in play.

I took a tub of Weight Gainer one summer and only gain 5lbs, that's without working out.

Eat some pie skinny!

Seriously, I have no good sugestions. You're looking for mass gain, so low reps, high weight. Look up some pyramid tables, and keep doing those to raise your max, which will help you gain muscle.

The consensus on that stuff is that it's garbage, empty calories which can only aid you in putting on a spare tire. Proper eating habits are one of the most essential & overlooked parts of building mass; you really have to eat like it's your job, often when you're not at all hungry. Also want to make sure that you get 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass every day, so you'd want to shoot for 150+. Protein powders can help a lot with this, just for the love of all things holy do NOT get Optimum Nutrition's cookies & cream flavor. Their vanilla is great in milk.

For more protein, boil 3 Eggs and eat the white only, don't eat more than 3 a day.

Guide to weight gain:

Step 1. Get a job
Step 2. Sit
Step 3. Gain weight

I followed this plan, and went from 5'8" 125 lbs to 5'8" 142lbs in a year!

I have a job and I do sit here all day posting on ATOT among other website and I'm still skinny! LOL

I'm dedicated in this new venture of mine and I'll start working out once I put the bench together tonight. I didnt pay $300 for this weight set to have it sit there and collect dust. That along with the weight gainer should help, correct? I will continue to eat as I normally do, but will eat some extra snacks such as cookies along the way. I hear that makes ppl get fat. ;)

gigapet - I will do that, I hear eating late at night makes you gain weight, why is this?

I was like you once. 6'0' and just 130 lbs. Thankfully I peaked at 180 lbs, I'm 165 now, gonna hit 200 this summer.

3 words:

Costco.

Creatine.

and Vanilla Whey.

Take those, work out, ate a lot, and you can do it :)

oh, www.fitday.com will keep track of your calories. you should be eating around 2300 a day... so eat a lot. Try to make it 40/40/20 protein/carb/fat (although this is almost impossible).
