I need a cpu, mb, ram, gfx, and a 22"=< monitor and have at most 500$ to spend

i preivously used a Q6600 at 3GHz and it has been sufficient for me for 2 1/2 years prob could of stayed for another 2/ 12. Most intensive stuff i do is game and video rendering along with a 9600gt.

Have been doing some research on whats out there now and would like to go for a i7 950 for a pretty healthy boost and probably stick with that for 5 years, but its way too expensive considering my budget. Im aware of the sandy bridge and if i remain stumped i just wait another week to see how things look.

id appreciate any suggestions thanks in advance

i5-760 + MB + 8GB DDR3-1333 1.5v (4GB if you don't do a lot of rendering) + GTX460 will put you close to $500....not sure how you're gonna be able to fit that monitor in unless you go for Propus or used parts

I agree with Donut. You're not going to get much of an upgrade over your current GPU and CPU setup for effectively $300 (a worthwhile monitor will be around $200). You should pick 2 of these 3: cpu/mobo/ram, GPU, monitor.

your right, i was thinking phenom ii 965 that is a step up on the q6600 according to the anandtech bench but money would still not hold for a monitor, cant believe how pricey those amds are considering energy consumption and performance in relation to intels competing offerings. However with the news of the mc deal on the 2500k thats going to compel me enough to get that and likely up my budget to squeeze whats left behind now
