Looking to buy an LCD monitor...

So my beloved CRT is going out, and I think it may be time to get an LCD.

I'm a little confused about the contrast ratios and response times though. I do a lot of gaming and I know that nothing beats a CRT in that aspect, but I've heard LCDs have come a long way and are able to display games with minimal ghosting.

Im looking to spend $200-$400, but of course I'd like to stay as close to $200 as possible without getting a horrible monitor.

Could I get some help?

Thanks

In that range, I would get a 19" Samsung w/ DVI. If you can afford $500 or so, get one of the nice Dell screens (2005FP I think it's called).

Just check out the hot deals section once a week. Eventually there are deals on the Dell flat panels. They are very good quality, and very affordable prices.

I recently made the move as well to a 17" Dell 1705FP (or something like that, can't remember exact model)

It was normally priced at like $350 or something, but it was on sale, and there was a 10% off coupon, and another $50 off or something, and then free shipping.

All in all, I paid $197 shipped.

I don't know if you're serious or not, but this is the Hot Deals section...

Perhaps I'm missing something or I'm having a brain cramp, or I'm not seeing the bleeding obvious, but when I click on the link you provided, I get an error message stating

ERROR: Sorry, you do not have permissions to access the requested object.

Error Code: 144

OK, but can someone tell me why it doesn't work for me? I'd really like to see this. I have no problems accessing anything else. Thanks.

Beacuse your computer is busted. So fix it, and then I bet the links will work.

You suck at the internet.

V00D00...Why the nasty response? I'm honestly asking for help. So if I'm missing something obvious, why not enlighten me instead of insulting me? I'm not trolling, nor have I ever been banned, or even received a warning.

There are over a dozen forums on Anandtech Forums. Click the one that reads: Hot Deals. It's in between FS/FT and Off-topic.

Thanks, but I don't have it listed. I'll copy-paste what I see.

Weird. You may have it blocked. Click 'profile' towards the top of the page, then 'personal options', then make sure Hot Deals is not selected in the block category list. You are missing a couple of others form the list, they must've gotten selected somehow (well, you can leave P&N blocked heheh :))

You should have off-topic, Notebook, and hot deals forums :Q

anyways - I love my Samsung syncmaster 730B for the price... I got $80 off a few weeks ago @ compuse Midnight madness sale.
