Looking to buy a USED laptop...

Looking to buy something to replace my 8600. Preferably something used.

Lightweight + battery life is most important. I don't even need built in cdrom drive. Mainly used for chatting, MS Office (notes in class), wireless web.

IBM T42's are way out of my price range.

Was looking at Sony S260, Fujitsu S*, Dell 700m, Dell 600m....

The 600m is closest to my budget, but I'm willing to go older if it means lower price. Since I don't plan to do ANYTHING cpu intensive, clock speed is definately not important.

Suggestions?

Yup, after trying 4 different laptop brands I have found my soul mate. I've got an IBM T42 and I know you say it's out of your price range but how much are you willing to pay?

I looked at my friend's laptop and I think I'm going to get an older X21. It does everything I need it to do and is cheap heeh.

The X series is great. I too have found my soulmate it a x31. There awsome machines, all of the x models are.

So what is not meeting your needs about your 8600?

Nobody can possibly make a recommendation without knowing that 🙂

I just got a Thinkpad R40, an older model with a 1.3 GHz Pentium-M. Since I don't have the "XP experience" that seems plenty fast to me and was pretty cheap.
