Ultra with HD? Wat?

No it wont run it on ultra, it will run it on medium/high easily enough though.

Technically it will run it on ultra but the FPS will be low so you will get stamped on by those who have turned their settings down or gotten a better graphics card to maintain 60+ FPS.

Hm, well, would you say the rig is worth $700? $750 with a 22" 1080 DELL monitor?

I meant ULTRA on 1920x1080 at a modest FPS.

you need at least 6 case fans for BF3 on ultra
So, 5 fans+water cooling wouldn't cut it?

No it won't, what do you mean modest FPS anyway?

Get rid of that HD for starters, it's not good for any game save perhaps Farmville, you also need a faster CPU, Video Card (I recommend the GTX 580) and bluer case leds.

The difference between custom med/high or high/ultra settings and ultra isn't anything to lose sleep over, especially when you are playing and not standing still looking at a building or fence. A better video card wouldn't hurt, but if thats what you can comfortably afford it can be good enough.

A 6950 or gtx570 would prob be the best start for ultra at 1080p.

If you drop all aa and msaa options shut off motion blue and drop hbao i am sure a 6870 could pull it off smoothly.

I got a 2gb gtx560 at ti specs being almost comparable to the 6950 and besides dropping hbao,i have virtually no aa options enabled and its barely smooth but enabling anything over low deferred aa and its not to fun and i don't think any card can max this game out with msaa and be playable.

Msaa and hbao are the worst killers period for BF3.

That graphics card you have is not going to cut it.

The amount extra you are paying for the water cooling is not going to overcome any extra performance you could have gotten from a better cpu/gpu.

No that wont run ultra. I have a 2500k @4Ghz, 8Gb RAM, SSD, and 6950 and still cant run everything smoothly on ultra.

Turn off the standard AA that ultra defaults to and use FXAA and it's a night and day difference in performance.
