I'm looking into purchasing a new mp3 player and would like some suggetions. It will primarily be used when I am in the gym, lifting and running. This makes size a definite issue; the smaller the better. I'm sure all of you members have a lot of different players with tons of input. Thanks for the info.

I have the Samsung Mini Yepp. Its kinda old, but it works for me. I run and lift weights, and has a chain clip for those times you don't have pockets. I think its really great.

I will want something that has a clip, it is just easier to put that on my shorts. Like I said, the more compact, the better. Price is not a huge issue and I am looking for something that I can put at least 2 hours of music on. So I think 128mb would be adequate.

The only clip I would trust is the one on the casing that came with original Rio 500. It's a fishnet black casing that had a really tight clip.

Personally I own a Nomad II (0mb version) with 128mb smartmedia. It's a great MP3 player, but I consider the clip that's on it to be worthless.

My sister recently purchased a Samsung YP-30SH. It's really nice.

For about $180 retail or $140ish Ebay you get a 128 meg mp3 player with arm, neck, and belt strap (great for working out, which i use my compaq ipaq pa-2 for). I've never had it skip or even feel that it was coming loose, and i run some rough trails and have even jumped with it.

It records voice too (never used it, just a nifty thing) and has a decent file transfer system that is fairly fast. Runs on 1 AAA battery for about 6ish hours, which is really cheap.

Only downside is that you can't expand the memory and the included ear buds aren't that great. 128 megs will get you 30 to 40 songs though, which is plenty.

It is tiny too, you'll be amazed how small and light weight it is. Great for working out. The whole thing just looks and feels damn cool too.

If you want cheap, i use a compaq pa-2. Comes with 64 megs of MMC flash but is expandable easily. About pager size, slow file transfers, decent file transfer software. Comes with a belt clip that is super sturdy. I only reccomend this if you want a cheap solution. Ebay offers them for less than $100.

I just got a Samsung YP-700H for $199 from Amazon, it's 128 MB (+smart media slot), credit-card size and thinner than an AAA battery. It comes with a belt case. I'm happy so far except I can't get ear-splitting volume out of it with the included phones, just loud. (apparently most players are like this).

That looks like the one that I was looking at on the back of the recent PCGamer mag. I thought it looked cool cause you can use the module as a usb drive to store files to on the fly like those overpriced models that you see now. Dual function and it's wickedly small too. I'd like to see a review on it.

Piggybacking on this thread as I too am looking for a MP3 player...

Are there any good MP3 players that use CompactFlash as the storage medium?

Edit: Actually that Muvo looks like it might be the one for me too...
