I've been looking at buying a DVCAM for quite some time now. So far, I've looked into the Sony ones only. I don't know much about them, so any recomendations would really appreciated.

My price range is from $600-$1000, although, I don't really want to spend $1000. I want to get the best bang for my buck.

I've read that the Sony DVCAM's don't work to well in low light areas.
But that seems to be the only negative.

Well... thats all i guess...

Thanks for the help!

according to the lastest issue of CU, the sony dcr-trv 25 $900 or panasonic pv-dv402 $800 are your best choices

Most of the digicams sucked in low light. Both of those have 10x optical zooms and are minidv format. They also both have a microphone jack, and take stills

Do some research on both of those

I picked up my Sony TRV25 for $699 at Best Buy about a month and a half ago. The quality is really good but if you plan on using it indoors a lot, then you might want to think about getting a light for it. The quality isn't that great indoors, but it isn't terrible either. Other than that, it's a great camera. I don't use it to take digital stills since most camcorders can't really compete with a stand alone digital camera and I use my Minolta Dimage5 for my stills.

I highly recommend this camcorder over any other camera in its price range.

Just to nit-pick...

I'm assuming you meant DV cam, as in DV camera. DVCAM however is another video format that's different than MiniDV which is the actual format you're looking for. :p
