Did you install Halo3 to the harddrive? If so, remove it.

That's interesting you had this problem. I was playing Halo 3 online last night with my friend on Live (doing the Campaign co-op), and we kept stuttering every so often too (in big action areas), sometimes it would freeze right up, and then it would smooth out again. I started the game so I guess I was hosting but my internet is plenty fast and never have problems with other online games.

Edit: Playing with the disc, not installed to HD on my Elite Falcon.
