Looking to build a new comp

I am in desperate need for a new computer but don't have a large buget for a wicked nice one. I'm a junior now and will only need a desktop until the end of my senior year.

I'm thinking 939 A64 cpu. I am not sure on the mobo however. Since I only need this computer for about a year I'm not sure it would make sense to go the SLi route. I still think PCI-E would be a smart move though.

I am going to salvage the hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers from my old computer. So I only need a case, motherboard, CPU, video card, and memory. Buget being around $450 dollars, preferably a little less.

So my real question is whether I should spend more money on an SLi board or just go the ultra cheap route. Also I'm not looking to be able to play games at their top detail settings, just smooth. I'll probably just be playing games like BF2 and other various things with about those sys requirements.

not so sure on the resolution because I've been stuck playing DoD at 800x600 really choppily. My computer now is just a Dell Dimension 2100. I suppose down the road I could upgrade the video card.

you can use the onboard video w/o issues, however its not good for anything past counter strike @ 1280x1024, and thats the 6150 i have experience with, getting only like 40fps max. It's playable but you can understand how easily more modern games will tax it even at lower resolutions.

this looks pretty good. i'm no fan of intel but i guess you could go their dual core route. my friend found a fry's deal that gave the intel 805D + mobo for $150. now this CPU isn't all that great but you can overclock it. if the motherboard is horrible, sell it and buy a new one. if you spend only $150 on the mobo/cpu though, you'll save ~$30. i'm not sure how it compares to the 3000+ in games though
