Looking to add memory and HD to 700m - need help!

I just recently bought a 700m and I want to add some memory and a new hard drive. I saw the configuration of another 700m being sold and I want to do something very similar but with a little more "mmph." The one I want to model mine after is here:

The only problem is that I am about as adept as a drunken monkey with computer hardware. I just know that I want it to work and work fast. I am thinking of going to get a local shop to install everything, but if at all possible I would like to do it myself. I wanted to know if other forum members could help me out by letting me know if the memory and ram I have picked out on Newegg.com is compatible with the 700m.

I am thinking two sticks of 1g for memory:

and I am thinking of this for the hard drive:

I would really appreciate any feedback and tips or advice. I would also welcome any more modification suggestions.

with the use of the service manual memory and Hard drive upgrades are very ez and without much risk. Go to crucial.com and use there configurator to find the correct memory modules for you laptop then off to newegg.com to buy it. Your Hard Drive selection is an excellent one and it should serve you well.

This will be my first time cracking open a laptop, but I am pretty mechanically inclined so I'm not too worried. If I get to a hard spot I'll just put it back together and take it to someone that actually knows what they are doing I guess. :)

Thanks for the nod on the HD. I was pretty anxious in picking out components myself so it's good to hear that this one will be suitable.

replacing the hard drive and upgrading the memory should not be an issue for you. the choices you have picked out are great. i do recommend jewelers screw drivers, they tend to fit better and not damage the small, crucial, screws.

Edit: NM. I checked out the website and they have some great, detailed instructions on application.

Umm..I wouldn't use the term "coat" when appling artic silver. An amount equivelant to the size of a pea is ample spread evenly over the cpu.

I thought about that, but I don't know if I would really need it. I won't be using the machine for gaming (I *gasp!* don't play games) and I won't be hooking up a 5.1 surround system.

Anything else recommended?
