Ruger 22/45 is excellent.

Durable and reliable (as much as .22LR can be anyway) and very accurate due to it's larger size. Great starter gun for that reason and the low cost of ammo compared to centerfire.

Just buy it. Now! :) It is a starter pistol. A lot of ranges use it. I know my school's pistol club had them available. It's a heck of a lot easier than shooting a 9mm (though now that I've shot more I could shoot it better). But even experienced shooters have them because they are great fun for plinking and training.
