Greek fest part two.
Today was the proper visit as a couple.
End of my yummy dinner, lukomades picture didn’t come out good enough to post.

Been a good weekend so far.
Only sad thing was at the festival I saw a young girl who was waaaaaay over weight. She was like 4 feet tall and 3.5 feet wide. She looked like a ball vey round.
May have been some kind of medical condition she didn’t look right and it didn’t appear to be all fat she looked swollen in her face.
Sad to see a kid with balance/mobility problems.

Who puts tin roof on a basement?

Greeks
The ceiling is more like metal slat, I think they had a fire years ago and changed stuff around. That area appears to be way over engineered for what it is. Power everywhere in huge locked receptacles, wiring to them looks like super high gauge extra tough, extra insulated wires. Two sets of double doors, ramps at both. Third door has steps.
The festival is a super huge event for them. I heard today the 3 day event generates enough revenue to pay all the bills for the entire year. Collection money isn’t encouraged at service, I think they leave a bowl out but that is it.

I'm not up on building design, but maybe it has a concrete floor above. Kinda looks like deck pans on a bridge.

Pretty sure you are right, I remember doing to church tour. Carpet or tiles are everywhere but the building is very rigid. No creaking/squeaky floors anywhere, nothing sounded hollow when walking around from what I remember.

Mmmmm...that bacon was good. I cooked up some extra thick bacon.

I put some of it on my homemade pizza that is currently in the oven.

should be done at 8:00PM (about 10 mins).

Yeah that's what it looks like to me, our building is the same sort of construction in the basement. That's a pretty serious church though if it's commercial grade construction and not just standard timber.

That metal roof is definitely not load bearing.

Yeah, looking closer it is probably not roof but some sort of cladding system.

Well I've slept in the past two days, and I actually did something today by going to the range. Sighted in my Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS scope on my AK. Took a long damn time cause I didn't have a good rest but it's pretty much on now at least.

Also shot my Taurus G2C (bug out bag gun) and SIG P229 for the first time, both performed great. God I love that 229. The G2C is fine but your finger takes up a ton of the trigger, like with a normal grip the trigger sits in the middle joint of my forefinger.

Now tonight it'll be relaxing time with YouTube and maybe some game. And sleep in again tomorrow. I guess single bachelor's life has some perks.

Hung out in the upper Sierras - Wishon & Courtright area. Elevation of 8200 ft made us sluggish. Just climbing a few hundred feet of elevation on the trails made us out of breath.

Was hoping to see a marmot - plenty of deer & chippers, no marmots.

It's actually pretty normal to put galvanized corrugated steel decking down...then a concrete floor in commercial buildings.

Had a nice walk with the Pooch, he had the most satisfying looking crap I’ve ever seen.
Also neighbor is dog sitting, that dog wants nothing to do with my boy. He saw her in the window and sat while she barked at him.
He looked back to me almost like he was saying “look at how pretty she is!”

Slowly working on a pair of speaker stands as I'm tired of having my surround speakers take up space on the end tables. I got a bunch of pretty nice 3/4" maple and oak at Lowe's.

For the "legs" I cut 1/2" strips of the maple and oak and glued them together in an alternating pattern. Now I've got four 48" long 1.5" wide "boards"; two are oak-maple-oak, and the other two are maple-oak-maple. I'm going to cut these into angled ~12" long pieces and glue them up in a zig-zag pattern. After a lot of trial and error on scrap wood I got the angles and lengths just right.

I'm undecided on the top and base. I cut four 7.5"x6" pieces of the maple and I bought oak quarter-round to use as molding, but I'm not sure. I think I want something more rounded than square, and probably no molding.

Here's one of the boards I glued up.

Then wrapped it up with some fellowship with some of the brothers. Good weekend.

*one of the marching bands at the parade was particularly good. Drum had extra base to it.
