Looking forward to BF1943?

Cause they're not? Was a big thread around here about it before and articles on all the games in the latest pcgamer. Its a shame we won't be able to fly those b25s though, and it looks like the ability to play as an artillerymen is gone too.

why is this coming out before battlefield heroes? wasn't BFH announced like 2 years before 1943 was?
 
What you can't fly the planes? That's lame. I thought the BF series was all about the planes and tanks and what not.

That was my favorite part of 1942. I remember playing the demo for hours on end dive-bombing the tanks and jeeps, doing a flip, and then parachuting way out in the middle of the ocean.

if they could mesh 1942 style play w/ bf2 and update the graphics, then all would be good, well except 24players and 3 maps????. some destroyer action, the ability to move the ships would be nice. hope it doesn't dissapoint.......

what info has been seen for bf3?

Yeah, the 24 players/3 maps sounds kinda lame. I bet the fanbase will fix that, though.

wonder if that will be the artillery of 1943? wonder if there will be some commander like in bf2 w/ the ability to call in a bombing run. kind of dumb as they could make the b25 be a 2-3 man plane, still have to land and take off on a carrier.

the more i read about it, the more i see fail 🙁

in the magazine article it mentioned something about if you control certain bunkers long enough you have ability to call in strategic assets to come in and do some carpet bombing, so i'd imagine the artillery is indeed gone 🙁
 
I wanna play this game cus I love BF but I don't wanna support this crap cus it's a step back from what they've done on the PC.

How about a real PC exclusive BF2, not a console port. I'm so tired of every company abandoning pc and just porting. Crytek to me has now become the judas of pc gaming.

It is amazing what the "port" PC game market is doing to Video card demand.

Back 3 years ago most people needed a $275 card (Nvidia 7900, etc) to play at decent resolutions.

These days a $100-$125 budget card will play the same "console ports" at the same resolution.

Maybe the only saving grace is that 1920x 1200 24" LCD monitors have considerably dropped in price.

So Now people are playing the same "console port" games on 1920x1200 resolution with new generation $125 cards whereas 3 years ago they would have been playing a "console port" on 1680x1050 with older generation $275 cards.

Now if only 2560x1600 LCD would drop in price or a new generation console would come out? (Games "ported" from a new generation console would be more demanding for PC video cards at typical PC resolutions)
 
No. Grew tired of BF1942, not bbecause of the game itself, which was great, but due to EA's nonsense making the Game increasingly difficult to play due to incessant releases of Add-ons.

you know, i love the bf series, from 1942 up to bf2 - liked vietnam but not 2142. i am just hoping for something that has the feel that 1942, vietnam and bf2 had. sadly it sounds like i may not be getting this as it is probably going to be a port thus the 24 player limit. i have yet to find a port that feels like a pc game should - rb6:vegas - good on 360, bad on pc, same w/ a couple of others.

hell, w/ the bandwidth i now have at home, i should put up another 1942 server and play it again, so many good times w/ that setup. i just don't understand how the games are getting simplier as they mature when we are not wanting that....i hated how in bf2 you couldn't move the carrier and there was no naval warfare like in 42...damn

wonder if pc gaming is that dead? i really wouldn't think so because of the gpus today - pick up a 4850 or 2 w/ a crossfire board and you would be g2g even @ 1920x1200 w/ even a cheap c2d and 4GB of ram. this is a easy sub $800 machine, not like you have to put out the big $$ like a few years ago.
 
I sincerely hope they put gameplay first, and graphics second.
Which I doubt will happen.

Even so I bet its worth a look. Hopefully we get a demo.
