Looking for volume control device

I have some PC speakers I wasn't using hooked up to my TV and I'm looking for a device to put in between the speakers and the TV to control the volume via remote control.

Does such a device exist?

Yes. However, most of them are in kit form and relatively expensive.

You're best off getting an old stereo preamp with a remote control - you don't need anything fancy, and a cheap preamp compatible with many universal remotes should be less than $50.
 
Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to take a look at the menu options tonight and see if it can be controlled on the TV itself. If not I'll look into the other options.

I've discovered that my 32 inch dynex LCD (what a beast right?) doesn't have an option to control variable volume. It looks like I'll be taking cheesehead's advise and purchasing some sort of cheap preamp.

Anyone have some suggestions on reputable online retailers, or any other place I could pick one up for cheap?

Also, this is for cheesehead only, do you happen to live in the great city of Green Bay Wisconsin?
