Hey guys,
I really like my '09 Saturn Vue XR but its getting to be time to flip it and get into something new.

I am looking for something similarly sized and has

-Comfortable seating for adults in the rear
-AWD for our crazy/stupid/long winters up here
-Decent power
-Good cargo space (flip down seats are a must for work)
- $50k budget ish.

I'd say if you like GM look into the GMC Terrain/Chevy Equinox since they're now available with the 300hp 3.6 V6.

for 50k?
I have been shopping the same deal as you...
New highlander in jan is an option
Explorer Sport
Flex
Pilot
GM Twins
Those are all 3 rows and a bit bigger than what you have now..

New Forester

Depending on what you're awd drive needs are, this is a solid point. I stumbled across their videos on youtube, and was shocked to see the difference:

At your budget, however, you can get any comparable vehicle with all the features you'd want, I think.

You might be able to get a Lexus RX3xx or similar model if you're so inclined, but I suspect the AWD won't be as nice.

Forester has horrible gas mileage and is pretty lacking on the interior front. Trust me. I own a 2011.

2014 Forrester has a new CVT vs the ancient 4 speed auto. 5mpg more

New 2.0 turbo engine too

My suggestion to check out. 2014 Nissan pathfinder hybrid with the new supercharged 2.5

Read the interwebs and the NTSB about the CVT in the pathfinder..
I would not touch that with a 5000 foot pole right now. I am guessing Nissan is going to have a lawsuit on their hands when somebody gets killed from it.

Yeah it was redesigned for 2014 - Top Safety Pick Plus too in the crash tests. It's on my shortlist for next cars

worth noting that that honda pilot / mdx have a much better AWD system vs the CR-V shown in that subaru dealership video. both pilot and mdx should have no issues climbing their test ramp.

cr-v system is crap.

hmm wasnt aware of that, but it does seem at least anecdotally a lot of them fail much earlier than equivalent automatic ( used to have an A4, and i know the non quattro ones had a CVT and it was a lot more failure prone than the zf8 everyone else gets).

read a bit about the nissan CVT issue. CVTs seem to fail more in high torque loads so maybe that is it. i remember whne they first came out it was a big deal that nissan made a CVT for a v6 since their V6s have quite a bit of power (i know they used a metal belts instead of rubber or something). guess they havent figured it out yet.

Thanks for all the input!

A solid AWD is a MUST where I live. 4-5 months of icy/snowy/slippery conditions and I do quite a bit of highway driving. There are days where I will need to drive thru 10" deep ruts of snow and ice in order to get to work. The Saturn handled that exceptionally well.

I like the Cadillac SRX and would consider it BUT my business competition drives the exact same model and I live in a smaller town. Not that it really matters, but would just be weird in the publics perspective possibly.

The Tahoe is on the top of my list, and I want to go look at one, though Im worried about its size being too large. I need to have a vehicle that is easy for old people to get in and out of as I regularly drive customers around. Ill need to look at one. Fuel economy may also be an issue, V8 is a little bit overkill.

The forester... hmm, although it has everything I need the closest dealer is 1.5 hours drive away and Im not the biggest fan of its styling.

Edge Sport. Another one I may need to look at. There are quite a few Edge's driving around. We looked at one when they first came out but didnt like the lack of visibility. I dont know if that has been fixed with recent styling changes.

One that I want to look at is the GMC Acadia. All the seats fold flat which is a plus. And I dont mind the styling, although it is a bit bland.

Im not getting the porsche. And I dont trust Nissan drivetrains so the Murano is out.

Ill proly check out the Acadia first.

One more suggestion. New x3. My parents liked it so much they bought two.... One of each engine.

Its roomier than the old one and actually sporty and gets good gas milage.

RX350 08+ even in a truck that big the 2gr moves it along quite nicely sister has one 140k on it really solid truck

The Acadia is huge compared to what you have. Its the biggest 3 row of the bunch. But it does have a super smooth ride and tons of space. Supposedly 4x8 plywood will fit. We chose it over the MDX and Explorer because of space and passenger comfort.

Chevy Equinox is the same vehicle as your Vue, but updated. Not as nice as some of the others you're considering, though. But if you really like your Vue, no reason not to consider it. It's smaller than the Arcadia and Tahoe/Yukon.

Yea Equinox was what I was going to say since you like the Vue. Only other thing I can add if you want a little higher end that the Equinox but don't want the Caddy look at the Buick Enclave.

If you're interested in a Tahoe you'd be better served to wait until the new Tahoe is released next year. Should be a major upgrade over the current model.

My parents have the Equinox. Its not nearly the same quality build as the Saturn is. Saturn really stepped up their game the last couple years of production.

Do you mean the 2015 Yukon? Whats the word on it?
