Looking for top gfx solution

Hey guys I have the budget of about $1000 for a high-end top of the line video card. I am going to want to play Crysis 3 at just about the highest settings possible and other games as well. I understand the issues with dual-gpu but I have come to terms that some games have issues. Would it be advisable to pick up two GTX 680's to SLI now, get 670's to SLi, 7970's to CFX or pick up a dual card like a GTX 690?

I would like more space in the case which is probably why I'd prefer a dual gpu card and not two separate ones but I know the 690 will cost a bit more. Any recommendations? I could get either of these:

i5 3570K overclocked to 4.4GHz, 16GB DDR3 1600, Gigabyte z77x-UD3H, 256GB OCZ Vertex 4, Corsair AX850 80 Plus Gold PSU. I also have a Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced case, Full Tower case. I just returned 2x EVGA Gtx 670 FTW I had in SLi, but one was faulty so I just returned both.

I'd rather have a dual-gpu card then 2 separate cards, which will give me more space in my case for sound card, etc. Thanks man.

Here's the thing I really want to just buy from Tigerdirect because I have a Preferred account on there, but they do not have the 7990 on it, only the EVGA 690. Should I go for that?

Nvidia Inspector will help with a lot of games that have the SLi issues correct? GTX 690 will give me better results then 670 SLi for the most part anyways correct? Plus more space in my case for sound cards and other interface/expansion cards, is this correct? Thanks guys!

Should of chose the GPU based off the games you play as there is not one card that rules them all (Lord of things) e.g. The GTX is better in BF3 according to the Anandtech bench-marks while the 7970 wins in almost every other game.

Correct. There are always helpful hints in various forums if the default SLI profile doesn't work well or if a new profile has to be created for a more exotic game/app. That is no problem 🙂
