Looking for TiVo. $299 for 40 Hr. Hot?

http://attbroadband.tivo.com/home_flash.asp

I I hear you don't actually have to have AT&T Broadband (I do though) to qualify. This is supposed to be an updated one, faster CPU, and it has USB ports, I'm not sure what they can be used for. I don't mind paying the monthly subscription, but I heard there was a way to download from tvguide (over ethernet) and get all the same features. If you can stick a USB NIC in there then it would be cool, I don't know much about hacking it though. Anyone have any suggestions?

DO you think it is worth it to get this one due to the faster CPU and USB ports? Or would it be best to pick up an older 14 hr one for for around $150 on ebay? I want to stick a larger hard drive in it regardless. Maybe that would be a better route. Any of you lucky guys that got one for $100 from walmart want to sell? 🙂

I've read that Tivo is partnering with Real for their new Tivo2. So you may want to wait and see what comes out.

On the other hand, I expect that may knock the old Tivo prices down when those start being released. Myself, I have an older 14 hour Tivo that I hacked an 80gb drive into. I've never had problems with CPU speed, but some external ports like USB would be nice.
