MMOs are about the biggest time sink one can get in a game I guess. Strategy games like Rome Total War and Medieval 1&2 Total War as well due to their replayability factors. Pretty much any game that has a heavy active mod community in fact can be a time sink. Kinda depends on what type of game (genre) interests you.

What have you already played? What *kind* of games?

i guess you could play Oblivion on 'low' ... i got 1250 hours out of it 😛
--Gothic2 ... sixty hours or so

HL2 is good for more than a few hours . . .
--then there is NWN and Morrowind .. and B&W ... and VtMB if you missed it is the original Source Engine.

If you are stuck at moms for a month, buy a 1950p - they are pretty cheap now -
.... you can play ANY game ...
😀

(I have a x1900xtx at school) so investing in a new card is not top investment to me. And the mobo is AGP,

I'm not into Rome total war, strat games just were never the same after SC. Which i guess is an option LOL..

Civ 4 sounds good, But i'm not sure if it'll Run

1950p is also AGP
-it might make a nice present for your mom ... or you could return it within 30 days if she isn't satisfied and eat the $10 restocking fee. 😛

ANYWAY ... Civ 4 requirements:

What *other* games do you like to play and how up-to-date are you?

VtMB is a true classic - the "Vampire Deus Ex" - and is only $9.95 on Steam ... probably will take up many of your evenings as an awesome RPG/FPS hybrid with a good story and combat. It is earliest Source engine so will run nearly as well as HL2 on your temporary rig [good]. Make sure you get the latest official patch and community patches.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic!

I love going through it again and again. God...such an awesome game.
