A buddy of mine recently bought an E machine(stop laughing, tight budget or something) that has a lame micro ATX size mobo. I was wondering if there are any decent micro ATX size mobo's out there that he could switch to, as the lamer in his E box is extremely limited in cpu's it can handle, no AGP, etc...

Thanks for any suggestions (other than returning the E-turd)

Inspect the power supply strength before upgrading to anything high performance. mATX machines might go as low as 130 Watts here, which is more than enough for a low-end all-in-one, but about half as much as would be needed for a decent Duron or P-III system.

Very nice low cost mATX boards are made by DFI and ECS. ECS K7VZM brings you Athlon/Duron, onboard sound and LAN, a modem raiser included in the retail box, AGP slot, and two PCI slots. That's about as loaded as it gets for mATX.

I bought a abit wb6 microatx, and was unable to get the machine to post using a 145W power supply. It worked fine with a 230w supply, though.
