Based on this thread I am looking for a sound card that can pipe DD and/or DTS out over digital (TOSLINK or coax). Not sure what's out there and how much I have to pay for it. Not looking to spend a lot < $80 would be great, and I don't need all the retail extras. Any recommendations?

When you find such an animal in that price range let us all know about it. Otherwise shell out the bucks and get an auzentech x-fi prelude as it's the only one that works in vista at the moment. Creative hasn't even released that capability to its own x-fi user base.

HT OMEGA Striker
Bluegears b-enspirer(slightly higher)
Sondigo Inferno

These are your best bet IMO, but I would go with the striker if I was making the choice.

Razer Barracuda AC-1 can do this,I'll say that this is the best sounding sound card I've ever heard hands down. I've owned at least 8 different ones over the years, only 2 being Creative cards. Expensive yes, but I've seen them on Ebay for $100'ish.

Ended up getting the HT Omega Striker. Went from opening the case to the DTS light coming on in five minutes. I'm happy. Kind of bummed I missed the AC-1 deal though.

I told my GF to order this, she's a huge Woot person. She's like "ummm it's a sound card so what?" She even has a $20 Woot credit from something they shipped her that was incorrect. I HATE being poor, I wanted one so bad. She didn't see the point of getting a $175 card for $55 shipped (with her credit)

WEMEN BAAAAH!

the HT Omega Striker is nice you won't be disappointed.

I have the HT Omega Plus+ and it is an excelent card. I think that the striker will be a pretty good card as well.

I have the striker and my friend now has it too. Probably the most pleasant experience i've had with a sound card. Everything works, they update the drivers, has amazing sound quality over every output i've used and the drivers are really small in memory footprint.
