Looking for some type of mini receiver that has HDMI

I picked up some powered speaker for my HTPC setup, however if I want to use them for music I need to turn on my TV as HDMI out is running from PC to TV and sound output going to speakers. I've seen receivers out there that are HDMI capable but they're $200-$300 range. Is there any cheaper solution so I don't have to turn on my TV to be able to utilize speakers for HDMI sound?

I'm guessing your TV is amplifying the signal, I would suggest a stereo receiver/surround sound system.

Nope, speakers are self powered...no amplification necessary. This is why I'm hoping for something that's not an actual receiver as it's not needed.

Currently it's HDMI -> TV -> Speakers, just looking to do HDMI -> *Somethinghere* -> Speakers and TV without spending $250.

Just get an HDMI audio extractor. Here's one for $25 that has HDCP passthrough & spits out HDMI, analog audio, and digital audio:

If you have multiple HDMI input devices, then pick up an HDMI switch as well. So HDMI devices to HDMI switch, which then goes HDMI to the TV & audio to your self-powered speakers.

So you basically need a pre amp or some sort of switch.
