Freestyle Fellowship (Members: Aceyalone, Mikah 9, Peace) All have albums.
Brother Ali (Albums: Shadows of the Sun, The Undisputed Truth)
Busdriver (Albums: Temporary Forever, Fear of a Black Tangent)
Galapagos 4 Crew (Members: Qwel, Robust, Qwazaar, Meaty Ogre, Offwhyte, Maker) All with albums.
2Mex (Albums: 2Mex, B-Boys in Occupied Mexico, Sweat Lodge Infinite, Smartyr with Life Rexall)
Rifleman AKA Ellay Khule (Albums: Califormula, In My Own World)

These are all underground and hard to find, your best bet would be Newsgroups to get them. This is only a small portion of what I listen to, and all I could think of right now. Feel free to ask about any of these people and I will answer the best that I can.

Thanks guys.

Just as an update I do officially like The Coup now and I like about 45% of what I have heard from Common.

Still tracking down some of the other recommendations...

Ok, Atmosphere is freaking brilliant, so whoever recommended that.. thank you very much!!

Also, Peanut Buter Wolf, very, very good.

Some of the other stuff recommended I can't find, but I will try harder.

Anyone have any further recommendations?

Thanks,
KT

wow a post about hip hop on ATOT and 30 replies ... and NO "rap/hip hop sucks" comments? has hell frozen over?

i honestly don't like any new hip hop, well not any but 99% i really don't like. the new akon album is actually okay. recently i put a lot of my old school hip hop onto my phatnoise for my car, which includes ...

Nas
Mobb Deep
Biggie
Too Short
Gangstar
Big Pun

And some others.

Probably already been said but worth repeating:

Binary Star (might be hard to find, but good stuff)
Del tha Funkee Homosapien/Hieroglyphics/Deltron 3030
Atmosphere
Jurassic 5 (new album isn't that good IMO but other stuff is very good)
Zion I
Tech N9ne (midwest hip-hop, little different than the previous, best album IMO is Absolute Power)

Thanks for these, I will check them out. I have the others you listed already (all very good) so I think I may have similar taste.

Cheers,

No one has mentioned El-P? His latest album (I'll sleep when you're dead) has some quality tracks. His older stuff is quality too. A lot of the other Hip-Hop I listen too has already been mentioned.

You also might want to check out Quasimoto, haven't seen him mentioned either.

a lot of good stuff recommended in here. here a few i havent seen mentioned:

swollen members. seek out their first three albums: 'balance', 'bad dreams', and 'monsters in the closet'.

i also dig what louis logic does. 'sin-a-matic' is a good, fun natured album.

foreign exchange, 'connected'. pretty much the way this album was made was a guy named nicolay from the okayplayer boards who lives in the netherlands sent beats to phonte of little brother in north carolina and he and his label mates recorded over them. the duo formed 'foreign exchange' and in fact had never met in person until phonte went over there to perform to support the album. so effectively they had created an album without seeing each other face to face. because of the time differences phonte would use his friends computer to download mp3's from nicolay at 3am via aim. interesting story behind a great album.

That foreign exhcange album sounds interesting. It sounds like a more coherent version of what Mike Patton did with the X-Ecutioners. I'll definitely check it out.

Ok, for the guy that asked, I have Pick a Bigger Weapon and Party Music from The Coup, but I am going to try and find more as I really like both of them.

Picked up Legacy of Blood from Jedi Mind Tricks; pretty good so far, kind of aggressive, but decent.

I find that I actually like the instrumental disc (Be) from Common the best. Not sure why that is, but I play the instrumental disc much more than the other one I got from him.

Still having a tough time finding a lot of the other stuff, but hey, I'll keep trying!

Thanks again!

 for Z-ro and Tech N9ne since I don't hear them mentioned much. I'm not sure if either fit the OPs tastes, though.
