Not true, it is the general consenus of Head-Fi that the Shure e4c's or Westone UM2's are the best IEM for the iPod.

For the more frugal of audiofiles, UM-1's are the best $109 IEM. Much better than Shure e2's.

These are only reconmendations for IEM's, if you want open or closed headphones we open up another huge box.

And whatever you do, do not become a member of head-fi, it will hurt you so badly. (Just bought Grado SR125 for $150 today on a whim. I'm getting impatient for my PS-1's.)

(frugal, lol)

I think most people on headfi.org would agree that the altec lansing iM716 are better phones than the UM1

I dunno if casual listening warrants the purchase of e4c's. Get the e3c's if you want something that maximizes your iPod. I have the e2c's, and they are just super.

Hurt me financially? And sorry but I already joined! 😱 It's alright, I'm good with spending money and I don't have a tendency to over spend 😛 Like it's tempting to upgrade from my 9800pro but everytime I think about it, I realize I have no *actual* need as of yet (Unable to play a certain game for example) and I'm running with decent settings so..

I wouldn't never use an iPod. I plan to listen with these on my cellphone with only quality 2 OGG files (96kb/s) but at the same time, when I'm at home, listen to FLACs from my desktop (therefore needing decent quality). And these phones can't be white, I refuse to have white 'phones.

Don't get any of them. Get the Altec Lansing iM716. They kick all their butts for $120. A lot of people are reporting that it sounds similar to the much more expensive Etymotic ER4s, which is not surprising since the altecs were designed by etymotic.

Industtry ALERT ! So were the sures

Why would you spend that much on a computer that is significantly slower than it's counter part? Especially one that lacks any useful features a cheaper PC counterpart would have. (No, lets not turn this into a computer flame fest...)

Did they lock your goku account yet?

Ummm why the hell are you concerned with in ear monitors if you listen on an iPod. iPods have horrible sound quality compared to other players on the market.

I bought the E2C's yesterday for using on the motorcycle. They definitely work to cut out the noise. Sound quality is really good, but not bassy, if that's what you're looking for. I'm not so much concerned about ultimate sound quality though, I'm more interested in the noise isolation.

Wow, misinformation spreads fast across the interweb. The iPod Video's SQ is actually quite decent if you weren't aware.

Anyways, OP have you considered ER6is or the UM1, which is supposedly better SQ for less money than the e3c (109 shipped)?

Um I told you the altec lansings, but you ignored it.. So tough luck.
I just personally got the Etymotic ER-4P for $160 on amazon marketplace, I don't think you can beat those phones for that price.

So why would you recommend one headphone yet get another pair?😕

If you haven't looked into the Etymotic ER-4P, you should. They're also available on eBay from iDealSound for 189.99... he doesn't advertise the price, but if you ask, you can get it.

Problem with those 'phones is that they sit too far into the ear canal and would be uncomfortable. (Needs some sound isolating, very comforable 'phones). Another problem is apparently with most of these headphones is that they lack bass...

Depends on how much you want to spend?
I'd get the altecs if I had $120 to spend.
But for $180, then get the etymotics. But they usually sell for $190, I just lucked out at finding it for $160.
