Hey guys my basic dilemma is that I live in a house with 35 other people that are all connected to the Internet. We are looking to purchase a router that will be able to support all our daily needs without overloading our POS router that we have now. Our current configuration is a D-Link DI-804HV 4 Port VPN Router with 2 24port 10/100 Netgear switches. I only have a basic understanding of how networking works and really not sure how to pick a router for that many users. If anyone could lend me suggestions on what kind of router or what type I should look for it would be greatly appreciated.

Willing to spend up to 400
if higher we will consider maybe pooling some extra money

If the 35 users are doing "POS" activities and you have a regular Internet connetion, there is No Router in the world that would help you.

You should consider getting more accounts and splitting the Network so that you have more bandwidth and less users per node.

We did consider splitting up the network and having 2 cable lines. We live in a fraternity house so we want to see if we can keep the costs down by spending a amount of money now instead of tacking on another 50 dollars a month which will run us about another 600 bucks for the year. We want to see if there is a router that can support 35 people instead on spending the money on service.

The bandwith is not a issue here we just need a router that can handle all our activity. Its just that our router crashes every so often and seeking a better one.

If 35 people can not support two connections you all must be in a very Bad Shape.;)

Might be that a little work and less Intrenet would be more Healthy.:light:

Doesn't sound like a router issue, more like Bandwidth! Any "yamaguchi" router will handle 254 users... The variable is what the users are doing...

OK, you'r ecurrent router should be good enough. What you need to do is go into and block all bit torrent traffic and pretty much only leave port 80 open for webpage access.

If there are 35 people, get them to pony up $1.40 more a month and you can increase you capacity.
