Looking for smartphones in a small form factor

What smartphones are on the horizon in a small form factor? Pretty much everything announced recently has a 4+" screen. About the only recent phone is the HTC Aria, but AT&T is a no-go for me. Plus, feature wise, it's lagging the new "super phones". The iPhone is obviously a front-runner, but again AT&T...

My kingdom for a 3-3.2" screen with a portrait slide-out qwerty keyboard in a thin body. I would be all over a new Pre with updated internals and slimmer body. Maybe HP/Palm has something in store for later this year.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I would guess that by the fall you will have numerous manufacturers gunning for the 'thinnest' or 'lightest' smartphone ever crown.

Droid Incredible is very thin and light weight and it's on Verizon. Try something like Swype if you don't like traditional touch screen keyboards. It's really great.

There's a rumored Blackberry slider that might fit the bill for you, if its real. There really aren't very many portrait sliders these days.

If you aren't tied to the slider, the best small form factor smartphone might be the HTC Legend.

There's the Moto Flipout, but that's rumored to be for ATT if it comes to the US and it doesn't have a 1 GHz processor (I think it has the same 600 MHz processor as the Droid). I am guessing there will be something that fits your requirements in the relatively near future, though.

The Verizon Palm Pre Plus may fit your bill. Not the newest phone on the market, but with some simple overclocking it runs quite fast. The build quality on the Pre Plus is WAY better than the original Pre too.
