I'll echo The Descent and [Rec] (not Quarantine, that was a piece of shit).

How about Let the Right One In or Inside (À l'intérieur).

Funny how 3 of the 4 I listed are foreign films. North America cannot seem to make a decent horror film anymore. Le sigh. :\

LOL, he said he doesn't like slasher flicks. Inside is like the ultimate slasher flick.

Can anyone suggest some good scary movies to watch with my gf? She doesn't like slasher movies but we both enjoy spooky thrillers.

13 ghosts, not that recent but it's a scary movie, good story, good buildup, all in all quite a good one.

The Uninvited is pretty good too but nothing beats classics like The Shining, that one freaks me out to this day.

Heh 13 Ghosts is alright, not as scary as it coulda been if you think about it. It's pretty tame for a scary movie actually. Wouldn't mind having those glasses though :p

What about zombie movies?

Mothman Prophecies was kinda spooky. The Mist was ok. I like The Descent. I didn't like Let The Right One In, but I know a lot of other people do. Yeah, Pan's Labyrinth isn't a horror movie really, but its a darker toned film, so it might actually work. I actually like Signs (I know, and considering I dislike so many different components, I have no clue how).

Zodiac, its not horror, but its got some creepy/tense moments.

Mothman could be hit or miss - depends on if you get into it or not. Definitely a thinking movie since I wasn't too scared while watching, but only "got it" when I was just getting into bed.

That's fine, but it's not your typical Jason Voorhees style slasher flick. There is more to it. It's not my favoruite horror film of the past while, but it's decent and though there is a good amount of blood and killing, I feel as if there is more development of the characters, which makes the payoff better than your typical slasher flick.

'The Collector' was good (the new one) although it seems its NEVER coming to video...I keep waiting. It was awesome and very suspenseful in the theatre!

I rememer downloading it quite a few years ago when i was home (i'm SAS so i'm not home all that much) and it had the name 13-30 so i downloaded it for my daughter thinkin it would be that movie "13 soon to be 30" or whatever it is called, with that girl from Alias?

Scared the living daylights out of them and the bed was crowded for a week, good thing i'm a single dad without many dates, eh. ;)

To this day they refuse to watch it, it REALLY scared them, of course, we live in a house in the country and when it's dark, it's pitch black.
