Looking for replacement pc speakers

I have some $40 Logitech speakers I got years ago and want something nicer. It's a 2.1 system with a small subwoofer. Not all that great but they are ok.

I was looking at arion series or klepsch speakers but the klepsch models seem to have tons of wires.

What do you guys use?

I have Polk audio speakers that I have connected to a receiver via digital out from my soundcard. Nothing fancy but they will sound far better than any PC speakers.

I'd rather not have a receiver unless I get the arion deep sound 550 or 750 model since those come with some type of controller.

I've heard the klepsch speakers and they are great but my buddy has them and wiring is a mess.

I'd just go with whatever bookshelf speakers fit the available space and budget, then same criteria for a little amp... guess it depends on how many honest, RMS watts you "need". My amp is sitting somewhere on the floor behind the desk, being able to control it I care nothing about. Volume is adjusted through the PC and I have a separate headamp for headphones.

How about some powered monitor speakers? They don't need an amp and sound really nice for 2.0 sound (depending what you get obviously). I think for around $200 you can get some nice ones

I wouldn't mind an amp since I have one under my desk now. I'm gonna look at the Polk ones.

I was considering the arion deep sound 750 speakers but no stores have them for me to see how they sound.

Edit: I ended up getting the klepsch 2.1 system but it's the new model with blutooth.
