looking for recommendations to replace my LCD TV/computer Monitor?

ive been using a Sceptre 42in LCD TV for my main computer/gaming sys for past 5 years, and im looking to get something new. I run everything in 1080p so looking for similar large screen type setup. any recommendations especially from those already using something similar are appreciated. Just going to move the sceptre for the kids to use for TV and want to replace my desktop with newer one, prob in same 40ish in range im guessing

i dont have any specific advice for you except to suggest you go to costco. they have a ridiculous selection of ridiculously sized tv's and theyre dirt cheap. i can believe anyone would have a use for tv's that size-- 50", 60" etc...you really have to like tv to buy a tv that large, and if you do there is probably something wrong with you
 
it works fine, im just going to move this 42 in lcd thats like 5yrs old to where my kids watch tv/play games etc and wanted to replace it with more current model, so was looking for recommendations, from people who have used LCD tv for monitor would be great but any informed opinions are good as well.

You answered my first questions, but not the second, perhaps more important one. Are you looking for faster response times, lower input lag, better picture quality, better built in speakers, 3D support, etc etc?
 
i would like as good or better performance then the 42in Sceptre, preferably smaller footprint (this was one of the first 1080p ones you could get its rather large). built in speakers not really i use klipsh for my computer, 3d nope, lag, picture quality would like again to be better, ie the one im using is 5 yrs old so i would expect the newer panels to be better in everyway. im just looking for what would work best to play my games (FPS stuff (black ops, mwf,etc, Diablo 3 whenever it comes out 🙂 )
So any thoughts on that, i dont nec have to be another 42 inch, but would like it prob close to that , ive gotten use to the size.
