Sony. Take your pick on whatever price range you decide on. For less than $100, I recommend the MDR-V6's, quite possibly the best bang-for-the-buck closed-ear headphones ever made.

there was just recently a thread on this on avs in which many said that the Bose were one of the best readily available for noise reduction however their sound for music wasn't that great plus as you mentioned their price was very high.....I think one of the guys who did a comparison on there also used pilots grade headphones and said the bose beat them out....

here is the link:

many recommend Sennheiser however they all say none are as good at noise cancellation as the new Bose....

good luck and also check head fi.org

I've noticed that the Bose are one of the few true noise cancelling headphones - They shut out ALL the outside world. Most of the others just tune out the low frequency noises like engines, general background drone, etc. If I did a lot of travelling or worked in a noisy environment, I'd shell out for the Bose, definitely.

What do you want them for? Frequent travelling? Noisy office? Listening to music at home? The more you explain WHY you need them the better opinions you'll get.

sorry about the late response, so I have been doing a bit of research and I tried the bose, ones WOW those things are REALLY impressive for sound cancellation.

Yes I travel frequently for work, plus I find it's easier to listen to classical music when working with a closed ear headphone set then regular speakers playing a bit loudly to drown out everything else.

I should've invested in those Bose two years ago, because I fly so much. But I too can't quite bring myself to spend that much.
