Well I have been out of PC gaming for some time now and have recently gotten back into it (last 6 weeks or so). I now have a BFG 6800GT OC so I am relatively "battle ready" :D.

My MAJOR likes to date have been

MOH (and expansions)
BF 1942 (and expansions but hated BFV -- I don't know why)
Call of Duty (expansion as well) -- this is what is eating up all my time now and LOVE IT!!
**prefer MOH and COD over BF1942

I just acquired FarCry and UT2004 (loved the original and never got off my arse and got this one) but haven't touched them yet. I also bought KOTOR at BB the other day and have spent about 30 mins with it and so far it isn't doing jack for me.

I know the first thing everyone will say is DOOM 3 but I am not sure the "monsterness" of it has me interested at all.

I loved Splinter Cell on XBOX but not sure I want to go down the Clancy road again or not.

Anyway shoot me some suggestions please.

FYI I should mention I am not looking to run out and spend $50 on a game (ie SW Battlefront I would like but I ain't spendin' that much dough) so I usually wait them out for a special deal or nab them from the FS/FT forum for about $20 each (thats really my spending limit -- yeah I know I am cheap -- sorry).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

Katamari Damacy (PS2), Fable (XBX), Sims 2 (PC)

(ps... I know they dont fit into the FPS/War genre, but expand your horizons man! :))

Definitely, definitely go out and buy Return to Castle Wolfenstein GOTY edition. Can be found for abuot 20 bucks now at Best Buy

Also download Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory for free. It is a standalone game so you dont have to have the RTCW retail version to play, but it is online only, no single player

You might also enjoy Joint Operations if you liked BF1942

Get Red Orchestra (free mod for UT2004).
You seem to enjoy WW2 stuff, and it's set on the Eastern Front (Germans vs Russians).
Great fun.

Dawn of War is a blast. Great graphics, and great gameplay for a change of pace. I've seen it around 39 bucks, and in my opinion it is worth it.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Looks like I will have to try out Dawn of War (looks promising).

I fired up FarCry this w/e and its pretty dam cool. Didn't play much (maybe 30mins) since I am still working on finishing COD:UO (almost done). Then I will put the effort into FarCry for a bit.

I counter that with the following statement: farcry sucked.

To be productive, I wouldn't buy into Doom3 until (if) some good mods are released. Btw, anyone know of any yet? In development? Hmm, you've listed the good recent FPS and Lonyo has already mentioned Red Orchestra. RO is rough though, unforgiving to say the least. Of course that means it's easy to slaughter people if you're good enough :)

I'm with you on KotOR man :frown: For RPGs, nothing beats the Black isle games IMO. Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2 + expansions. Can get em bargain now too.

Haven't bought Dawn of War myself, nor have I purchased Rome: Total War yet but from the demos and hearsay they're both exemplary RTS.

Go www.kiseido.com

Battlefront is ok, since it's BF1942. What's up with Lucas Arts taking games and adding Star Wars graphics then releasing them (Galactic Battlegrounds anyone)?

Lately I've been playing Warcraft 3, Halo, and Star Wars: Rebellion. None of them are particularlly new though : (

Diablo clone, Sacred is a fun hack 'n slash.......as long as you don't get buggered up by some lingering bugs. The new Tribes will be out soon (it's gold I think). Played the multiplay demo and was suitably impressed. The new Kohan has been released but alot of people are complaining about its difficulty. And, of course, DoW which peeps are talking about here and I enjoyed when I played the demo. Note that Kohan, DoW, new Tribes all have demos so you DL those babies. And, BTW, I'm with the currently prevailing view here that KOTOR ain't the shiznet.

Painkiller has a certain style of "Run and Gun" to it and I'm sure won't appeal to everyone.
When I'm in the mood for Shoot and Duck I play Call of Duty, when in the mood for pure destruction, Painkiller.
