Looking for opinions on the quality of Fossil watches *UPDATE* went with Citizen

I went watch shopping tonight at the local mall. Dillards had some Fossil watches that I liked fairly well, and here's the kicker--they come with an 11 year warranty. Established brand names like Seiko, Citizen, and Bulova only come with 3-5 year warranties. But then, I have a pair of sunglasses with a lifetime warranty that break every two months. So I'm wary of outrageously long warranties. What do you guys think? On the one hand, I can get a Fossil watch that looks nice for less than $100. On the other hand, I can get a Seiko or Citizen watch that also looks nice and is more or less guaranteed to last my whole life for $300.

Fossils are nice...

If you want a classy GQ look, go for Bulova, Citizen, or ESQ

Citizen Elegance series are Very nice ($200-$1000+) for men.. I have one :D

If you want real nice(read: materialistic) ones, obviously go for Rolex.

Since u named Fossil, I'm suggesting those other brands.. but all are nice in their own fasion ;)

I personnaly wouldn't go for a Fossil watch. I have had more than one and the bands don't seem too sturdy. I have had the same Kenneth Cole watch for over 2 years and it has never had a problem. about $150.
Also had one of those Citizen watches that doesn't use a battery. Great looking watch and very durable. Left it on the sink at work after washing my hands, left, came back 47 seconds later and it was gone. Thief deserved that $350 watch more than I, I am sure.:disgust:
Go with the Citizen if it is in your budget IMHO.

Bands--now that is one thing that is influencing my decision somewhat. I had trouble getting the band on and off with the Fossil watches. The Seikos were easiest, followed by Citizen. Nobody makes the expandable bands anymore. :(

No because those expandable ones tear into your skin and pull on your arm hair. Check out a Kenneth Cole too(the band is good to deal with), I like mine and have had many compliments on it. Many more than my Citizen that cost 3 times as much.

My brother has a $90 dollar one, dependable, hasn't quit yet and he got it in like December. And it looks nice too. I didn't get one though, I'm too cheap to pay that kind of cash on a watch.

Kenneth Cole, huh? I saw those at Dillards...passed 'em right by because I thought "just another designer clothing tie-in". I'll take another look tomorrow though...thanks.

Nice watch, mOoGotMilk. I'm looking for something with a blue face, though. The jewelry stores here are selling Seiko and/or Citizen for 25% off right now. One sales clerk even offered to take $20 more off when I made some noncommital grunting noises. :D

I have a Fossil watch and I have never had trouble with my Fossil! My only caution is that if it has indiglow it is power hungry so be careful as you use it.

I have a fossil watch and I've had it for at least 3 years now. Fossils are very nice and will last you a good number of years.

I guess the only problem with them is the band (as some mentioned earlier). It broke once on my watch but that was b/c I had it in my jacket pocket while snowboarding...and I fell...hehe.

Its a good investment for a watch...so go for it.

Huh. Weird. I haven't looked at those particular brands so I guess that's why I missed it. I wonder why none of the major names offer watches with indiglo...it's so superior to "luminous hands and markers"

I had this they aren't too bad for the cash, but others have named off some great brands that you would prolly be more happy with.

Mine works fine as well. Think I paid ~ $70 for it, and it looks good with everything. Only problem I had was getting on of the adjustible links out to make it fit my arm, but apparently I wasn't doing it right.
