Looking for opinions/info on HP Laserjet 5MP

I currently have an Okidata OL810e. It seems to be having some paper feeding problems, and I am thinking about replacing it with an HP Laserjet 5P or 5MP. But, I would like to know whether there are any hidden costs for these things, outside of the toner cartridge. For Instance, on my Oki, I paid $30-$40, but then I found out I needed a new Drum Kit, which was an additional $100, that I didn't know about. Are there any such hidden costs for the HP LaserJets?

And which would you use/prefer?

BTW, this is hooked up to my home network via HP JetDirect EX 3, which works very well.

Ummm... You bought the Oki new and still needed a Drum Kit? Parts wise HP's are fairly good, I did repair on them for a few months at my last job. If you're buying new, you wouldn't need anything. Used, you might have to buy paper output assembly (what I saw broke the most) or the roller feeders. And from personal experince, HP's aren't built well. The 4100's which is a big monster, I was always replacing parts for various clients. Their smaller units like the one you're looking at might be more reliable.

but that doesn't make sense, the 4100 should be a top model. For the money HP's are good, they don't cost a lot to fix, if worse comes to worse...

I bought the Oki OL810e used off of ebay a couple of years ago. It's been a pretty good printer, and pretty reliable, except for lately where it's been paper-jamming. I just changed paper, and I'm wondering if that's the problem, but I'm not sure. I tried cleaning the rollers, and it didn't seem to make much difference. Maybe I need to take it in somewhere and get some professional service done to it.
