I need the biggest bang for my buck for under $200... I play at 1280x1024 (LCD limited), not a heavy gamer, So I want the most bang for my buck. Also, I only have 1 slot for the card, so I can't get a card that uses a 2nd slot for cooling. Plz help, thanks.

You can get a sapphire gto2, those can be unlocked to 16 pipes and usually OC to x850xt pe speeds or higher. Some even come with 16 pipes unlocked already. Maybe there's even someone selling a unlocked gto in the FS/FT forum that's already OC'd...

I'd suggest either the 6800GS (one of the pre-overclocked ones) or the X800gto2.
Newegg.com sells the Sapphire X800gto2 for $189 and it comes pre-unlocked with 16 pipes.

How important is HDR & sm3.0? I am drooling over the x800gto2 now, but does the raw performance justify the extra money and lack of sm3.0?

The 6800GS is probably going to be too slow to play next generation games with HDR at any speed anyway. I'd take the unlocked GTO2, it should perform close to the X800XT, so it's got plenty of raw power.
