Looking for new MP3 player for dad

Right now my dad has a Sansa 8gb and likes it, except he says that is cannot fast-forward through large songs (he means like 3 hour radio shows).

Here is what he wants:
Flash
around 8gb
not ipod or zune (IDK why)
can fast-forward through large songs
mounts as standard USB drive with no software or drivers needed

Looking at my latest issue of wired, I saw good reviews on the Sony NWZ-S718FBNC. Can anyone who owns one of these comment on it's ability to fast-forward?

He should have no issue fastforwarding with the sansa,just hold down the >> button.

From the sounds of it it is just really slow, like it takes too long to get to say 2:50 on a three hour song from the start.

I will ask him though, maybe he is doing it wrong.

I have a Sansa I use for audiobooks and a local radio talk show and will verify the FF on it certainly does suck for this use. Sure, it works, but has no acceleration to it and it's quite easy to relax pressure on the FF button momentarily only to then skip to the next track.

Just gave it a run : 30 seconds of FF gets 13 min. By 60 seconds it'd FF'd 26 minutes as expected and my thumb was getting a cramp.

i picked up the Sony Walkman 8GB mp3/video player from BB as a gift. It's on sale for ~ $119. Very nice unit.
