I'm eyeing the ViewSonic VX2025WM and Samsung SynchMaster 204B. Both seem to be good monitors but each have their drawbacks. I'm not necessarily looking for a good gaming screen, rather one that has sharp clarity, true color rendering for graphics, and higher than 1280x1024 res. It also has to be usable with Linux (xorg-x11/gnome).

I like the adjustability (rotate, pivot, etc) of the 204B but the widescreen 2025 is awfully tempting. Any opinions on these two monitors? Can anyone give a first-hand comparison? Any other recommendations for the same price range?

Also, I have a Radeon 9200 LE card. Will it handle the native resolution of either of these monitor? I think it will do up to 1600x1200 but I don't know about 1680x1050.

i hope you're not planning on gaming with that video card lol
you're comparing two different types of monitors, ones a 1680x1050 widescreen, one is a 1600x1200 4:3 monitor. it all depends on what you like more, square-ness or widescreen lol, they're both good monitors, i actually might just get the viewsonic vx2025wm very soon, once i get enough saved

Like I said, gaming isn't a priority (or I'd have a better card).

Will the Radeon drive the native resolutions on these monitors?

I bought my VX2025wm about a month and a half ago and I love it. I use it for gaming, photo editing, graphic design and video editing. Totally recommended.

Just a note though: ViewSonic's customer support is ******.

I would say the Viewsonic

What I am wondering, though, is where is a good place to buy this?

If I am going to spend this much money on this, I dont want one single dead pixel, so which online store has a good pixel policy? I have already ruled out Newegg, I hear Buy.com is pretty good on theres, but there price is a little on the expensive side. Anyone have any suggestions? I know a couple or so people in here are looking to buying this...
