Looking for more info about the Altec Lansing ADA 890 speakers

I hear they are a decent set of speakers and I am thinking of picking them up. I just don't quite understand all the modes it has. I will be using them on a hercules Game Theater XP. My questions are:Quad mode, is this used for surround sound in games? Any other uses?
I assume you use Dolby digital for DVd's, what about music? I'm basically just looking for anything that would make me not want to buy these, any reasons?

The only issue you will run into will be some loss of subwoofer bass in Quad mode for gaming. Go here for more information on speakers- Link Othe than this issue which affects most sound cards unless you have a SbLive 5.1 with a special patch they are a very good system. Music can be played through all modes, depends on how you like the sound.
