thanks for the offer. 🙂 merry x'mas to you.

question. what do you call that game port/midi port cable? my piano is 10 feet away from my comp. i'm thinkin of getting an extension cable between the MIDI connector and the game port.

Hey thanks for the thread! I needed a question answered about MIDI as well.

Do I HAVE to have a sound card (PCI) for a MIDI-Keyboard connection?

Thanks,

not really, u can buy a USB-keyboard connector.

I bought an Edirol UM-2EX (the UM-1EX was out of stock at the time). It has drivers for Windows XP x64 as well as normal WinXP and Mac OS X; I've not had any problems connecting my PowerBook G4 and Windows x64 PC with my keyboard for recording in Digital Performer or Sonar.

B&H is in my opinion the Newegg of audio, photo, and video gear. They have a huge selection of MIDI cables here, if you need an extension cable.

As I said, which cable do you need? I have a couple of the straight-through, male-male MIDI cables and I have at least one of the "gameport to 2 male plugs" cables.
