We like listening to music in the shower... I had an am/fm/cd/cassette player that served us well for many years but finally died.

Ideally, I'd like something with CD and MP3 capability that stores MP3's and can hook directly to the computer for transfer instead of loading via CD's.

I've been searching for a few days now and it seems the only boombox style mp3 players I've found load with CD's only.

Aside from hooking my nomad up to a regular boombox, can anyone recommend a one piece solution?

Thanks :)

Never heard of a solid-state MP3+speaker combo. Large magnets and magnetic storage don't tend to mix. :p

Just get a set of computer speakers and plug em into the line-out on the Nomad. :)

as far as I know, there are no mp3 players that have CD capability as well as internal memory/storage to store songs.

Why not just burn mp3s onto a cd? Unless of course you spend more time in the shower than fits on a cd... ;)

We actually do that, but after having the nomad to mow the lawn to and the computers to hear music elsewhere in the house - we've gotten spoiled and lazy..

darn technology ;)

you can get your house wired for sound. get some outdoor speakers, bathroom speakers, etc. and have em hooked up to a main stereo. you can have controls installed near each speaker to allow you to change songs, volume, etc.

Here's your answer: Take an old set of PC speakers (preferably with sub) and put them in the bathroom on a shelf or somewhere like that. We have that and use either a Discman or iPod to play tunes. The volume is loud (and there's bass!) and the price is right. I'm using an older (2-3 years old) set of Altec Lansing speakers + sub now that I got some Logitech. Probably much better sounding than any other little boombox type thing, and cheap too. :)
